There might not be a better time to go to Disney World than in 2024.
First up, you’re going to have some new restaurants to check out, which, well, is ALWAYS a bonus for us. But you’ll also see a new attraction at Magic Kingdom later in the year, as well as get to see EPCOT AFTER the transformation has been completed. Plus the Disney Dining Plan is returning in 2024, you probably won’t need to make park pass reservations anymore, and park hopping is going back to normal. But when it comes to hotels, not ALL will be perfect in 2024, so we’re going to tell you where NOT to book.
So for various reasons, you might want to not consider the following hotels if you’re visiting Disney World in 2024.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Don’t get us wrong — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a GORGEOUS hotel with some amazing dining (like everyone LOVES ‘Ohana). However, there is a lot of construction going on at the hotel right now as Disney adds new DVC villas to the resort. That means you’ll likely hear construction noise during your visit — at least during the day.
Disney has also not yet given a timeline for when the villas might be completed. Believe us, we keep checking the progress, but there still seems to be a LOT of work to do, so we have no idea if these villas will be done by the end of 2024.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The Polynesian isn’t the only hotel at Disney World that’s under construction. A LOT is happening over at the Grand Floridian, too. Many of the hotel’s buildings are getting refurbishments and some of the guest rooms will be getting new furniture and color schemes. It’s going to be busy and noisy at this hotel while all this work is being done. Even the lobby is getting an update.
There are also parts of this hotel that haven’t reopened since Disney World reopened in 2020. The character dining experience, 1900 Park Fare remains closed, even after all this time. The Garden View Lounge, where the Grand Floridian once hosted Afternoon Tea, also remains closed, although the room itself is sometimes open — but not for tea.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Although Disney’s All-Star Movies might be our favorite of the All-Stars (hey, we really love the theming), it might not be a very good hotel for booking a room, at least in early 2024. That’s because the main pool, the Fantasia Pool, will be closed for a refurbishment from January through April.
Now, even if you’re not a pool person, that could still mean seeing construction and hearing construction noises while you stay there. There is a smaller pool at the resort, the Duck Pond Pool, which is themed to The Mighty Ducks.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Pool refurbishment seems to be a theme for this time period at Disney World. You’ll also find that the main pool at Caribbean Beach, the Fuentes del Morro Pool, will also be closed for refurbishment from January through April.
That means you could see and hear construction during that time. There are five smaller pools located throughout the property, though, if you want to swim.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter
Another resort will also have its main pool undergoing refurbishment from January through April. Doubloon Lagoon at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter will be closed during that time for maintenance. That means you’ll possibly see and hear construction during the day.
If you want to swim, though, you’ll need to travel to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside to enjoy Ol’ Man Island pool there.
2 Disney World Pools That Will CHANGE Your Hotel Plans
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn
The good news is that the pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is scheduled to remain open in 2024 — at least as far as we know. The bad news is that there’s still some construction happening over on the BoardWalk as The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers gets ready to move in. Yes, that means you’ll see and hear construction during the day in the area.
The Cake Bake Shop was originally supposed to open in 2023 but has since delayed its opening to early 2024, so it’s likely the construction will be over earlier in the year.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
Disney recently announced that it had plans to redesign the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness and Campground. These cabins will be part of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC), although the 350 refreshed cabins will be open for reservations to everyone, regardless of whether they’re a DVC member or not.
These new cabins are expected to open in 2024, so that means that construction will begin soon and go into early 2024, at least. That means the resort will be a little extra noisy and you’ll see signs of construction going on there.

So if you’ve been thinking about booking these hotels for 2024, we would recommend reconsidering, especially if things like construction and pool closures could affect your trip. Don’t worry, though — Disney World has PLENTY of other hotels, so you’ll have plenty of other choices.
