Although Disney World’s historic closure and reopening was over three years ago, there are still some things that haven’t yet returned.
Grand Floridian Resort
Now, don’t get us wrong — we were VERY happy to hear about the return of the Disney Dining Plan, as well as the end of park hopping restrictions in 2024. But we’ve been disappointed that some restaurants remain closed, including one we just found reopened today — well, sort of.
After Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reopened in 2020 after Disney World’s closure, the Garden View Tea Room has remained closed. This was once a spot where you could enjoy morning or afternoon tea, including the Disney Perfectly Princess Tea Party, a special princess-themed tea party.
Afternoon Tea
Well, we recently visited the Grand Floridian and saw that the Garden View Tea Room was open again!
It’s open!
But it’s not open for tea. Instead, the area was opened up as a space for games, activities, and movies. There wasn’t a teapot in sight.
It’s not open for tea, though.
A Cast Member told us this restaurant is opened up every once in a while if the hotel needs space. The day we visited, it was stormy out, meaning the pool was closed, so everyone was directed to come inside and play a game in the Tea Room.
Board games
We don’t have any confirmation on if or when the tea experiences here will return, although we do know that ANOTHER afternoon tea will be available soon on Disney’s BoardWalk when The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers opens.
