The title and the release date for this year’s “Doctor Who” holiday special, which will stream on Disney+, have been announced, according to ComicBook.com.
‘Doctor Who’ Holiday Special
The holiday special episode is titled, “The Church on Ruby Road,” and will debut on December 25, Christmas Day. This year’s special returns to the tradition of airing on Christmas Day, marking the first time the series has done so since 2017.
The news was shared via the Disney+ official account on X.
This will be Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor, and the episode’s title could be a reference to the Doctor’s new companion, Ruby Sunday, who is played by Millie Gibson.
Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honored to be cast as the Doctor’s companion.
It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have traveled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.
Millie Gibson in a statement
The holiday special will follow David Tennant’s run as the Fourteenth Doctor in three specials for the series’ 60th anniversary. Gatwa and Gibson’s debuts will lead into season 14 of “Doctor Who,” followed by season 15, which is currently in production.
