Building permits for Downtown Disney District construction have been filed by Disneyland with the city of Anaheim, according to The Orange County Register.
Disneyland Files Building Permits for Parkside Market
The permits, valued at $8.2 million, were filed in October 2023 and will make way for Parkside Market, the newest dining option coming to the west end of Downtown Disney.
The Orange County Register reports that the permits include, “a quick service restaurant with four separate concepts and outdoor dining on the second floor.” Parkside Market is expected to open by late 2024.
Announced earlier this year, Parkside Market will highlight four different dining concepts:
- Seoul Sister — A fast-casual modern eatery that will serve a Korean-forward menu based on bibimbap (Korean rice bowls) with a California twist. Executive Chef Kelly Kim will showcase bold Korean flavors through marinated meats, vegetables, and savory sauces over rice, noodles, or salad, plus appetizers, an Asian-inspired breakfast menu, and hand-crafted drinks.
- Sip & Sonder — From founders Amanda-Jane Thomas and Shanita Nicholas, a Black women-owned brand that has been recognized as one of the best cafés in L.A. by the Los Angeles Times. Guests can expect to enjoy signature lattes, fresh treats, frozen drinks, and Caribbean-inspired bites.
- GG’s Chicken Shop — From Boka Restaurant Group, founded by James Beard Award-winning restaurateurs Rob Katz and Kevin Boehm, alongside Michelin Star Chef Partner Lee Wolen. The shop will serve a family-friendly menu of chicken sandwiches, salads, and classic dinner table sides. The first brick-and-mortar GG’s Chicken Shop opened earlier this year in Chicago and this new location in Downtown Disney District will be its first on the West Coast.
- A Second Story Bar — In addition to these options, a second story bar will be an al fresco spot offering guests views while they sip signature craft cocktails and mocktails. Refreshing selections will include frozen lemonades, frozés, espresso martinis, shareable cocktails, and spirit-free elixirs.
The 11,000-square foot building will go up on the site of the former AMC Theaters, Starbucks West, Earl of Sandwich, and Sugarboo & Co., which were demolished in Feburary 2022.
While guests will have to wait until late 2024 to experience Parkside Market, guests can now enjoy performances at the Downtown Disney District stage, which opened and began hosting performers earlier this month.
