For the first time in 30 years, there’s a NEW Disney parks character!

There are some characters that have been introduced just for Disney World, like Figment in EPCOT and Orange Bird. Now, there’s a brand-NEW character in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

We’re at the first night of the NEW Jollywood Nights holiday party in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are tons of exclusive treats, events, and shows at this party, but there’s one exciting update that we weren’t anticipating.

When we walked into the park for the party, we spotted this big, light-up sign for the event. It’s a cute way to introduce guests to the party, but that adorable gingerbread man on the sign is more than just a holiday decoration!

At the media event for the party, we learned that the gingerbread man is none other than Ollie — a brand new Disney Parks character!

RJ Temple is the creative director who worked on several elements of the party, including the Tip Top Club at the Tower of Terror, the transformation of the ABC Commissary for Holiday Fiesta en la Calle, and Ollie. He talked to us about Ollie a little bit.

While we don’t think Ollie is available as a walk-around or meet-and-greet character (we’ll update you if we spot him anywhere), it seems like he’s the mascot for Jollywood Nights. He’s featured on the event map and on that big sign in the front of the park.

On the map, it says, “There once was a cookie named Ollie who made his way west on a trolley. With oven-baked gleam, he followed his dream and made all of Tinseltown jolly!”

Ollie is the first Disney World character in about 30 years — there haven’t been any other park characters introduced since Figment! Of course, other characters have debuted in Disney World since then (like Asha from Wish, Moana, and others), but they’ve all been from movies and shows — not park-exclusive characters.
