Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the new indoor roller coaster at Epcot in Walt Disney World, has been awarded the prestigious Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement as an Attraction by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). The Thea Awards are internationally recognized honors that celebrate excellence and innovation in the themed entertainment industry.
The awards are given out annually in several categories, including attractions, live shows, brand experiences, and more. Cosmic Rewind was recognized for its groundbreaking ride system and storytelling.
Some of its notable features include:
- The first-ever reverse launch on a Disney coaster, launching riders backward at the start of the ride.
- A unique ride system with vehicles that rotate 360 degrees to immerse guests in the experience.
- An original story based on the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy films with appearances by popular characters like Rocket, Groot, Gamora, and Star-Lord.
- A pop music soundtrack with songs like “September” and “Disco Inferno” that plays randomly to give each ride a unique experience.

Cosmic Rewind joins other acclaimed Disney attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Pandora – The World of Avatar which have also won Thea Awards.
