After guests’ complained about the first night of Disney Jollywood Nights, Disney added more character meet and greets to the event. Here are our tips on how you can try to meet them all — or, as many as you can.
Meeting All of the Disney Jollywood Nights Characters
Guests attending the after-hours event are now able to meet Mickey & Friends, the originally announced “retro” characters, as well as Duffy, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio, Stitch, Snow White & Dopey, and Mary Poppins. That said, the characters have long waits and it is, in our experience, impossible to meet all of them in one night — especially if you want to enjoy any other Jollywood Nights offerings. Here are our tips to help you meet as many characters as possible.
Mickey & Friends
At Animation Courtyard, you can meet six of Mickey and his friends — Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy. The characters are paired in groups of two and they rotate out every 30 minutes.
If your goal for the night is to meet all six of the characters, we suggest blocking out around three hours to do so. With the party’s four-hour run time, that’ll eat up the majority of your night.
If your plan is to simply get a holiday photo with whoever you can, we suggest going for the Goofy and Pluto meet and greet. In our experience, it had the shortest wait time, followed by Donald and Daisy. Mickey and Minnie’s character greeting was the busiest by far.
One thing that sets the meet and greet experience at Jollywood Nights apart from those at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is that the characters at Jollywood Nights do not start meeting guests early. So, while people started waiting in the Animation Courtyard area around 6:30 p.m. during our visit, the greetings didn’t begin until the party’s official start time at 8:30 p.m.
We noticed that some characters finished meeting at around 12 a.m., a bit shy of the event’s 12:30 a.m. end time, so if a specific character is high on your priority list, it may be best not to save that for the very end of the night.
Echo Lake Characters
You can find Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers in the Echo Lake area. Of the characters you can meet by Echo Lake, they had the shortest line, clocking in at around a 15-minute wait.
Phineas and Ferb, on the other hand, had one of the longer lines during Disney Jollywood Nights. We suggest budgeting at least an hour to meet the brothers from Danville. They can also be found around Echo Lake, near Gertie the Dinosaur.
The final Echo Lake character is Max in his Powerline costume. He had a line at around 45 minutes to an hour when we were at the party.
Other Characters
To make up for guests’ disappointed response to the first night of Jollywood Nights, the second night saw the addition of a slew of rare characters meeting guests — including Santa Duffy, who we found at the Mickey Shorts Theater. Overall, we’d suggest giving yourself around 45 minutes to meet any of the newly added characters.
If you’re looking for Mary Poppins and Mr. Penguin, we spotted them on Grand Avenue.
Snow White and Dopey alternate with Mary Poppins at the Grand Avenue location.
We found Pinocchio near Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Jiminy Cricket alternates with Pinocchio in the same location. We noticed a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member with many of these characters, ready to take a photo for you if you’d like.
We waited around 40 minutes for a photo with Santa Stitch, who was stationed near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular entrance.
If you’re planning a future trip to Jollywood Nights, our biggest tip is to remember that there isn’t enough time to meet all of the characters. We suggest taking into account all of the things you’d like to get done at the party, then figuring out how much time you can allot for character meet and greets. With a solid plan in mind before you head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can get a lot done!
