Help! I Waited 45 Minutes for Disney World Fireworks. (But I Didn’t Need to)

Disney World’s fireworks shows are some of the most sought-after experiences in the parks.

Magic Kingdom fireworks

Why? Because they’re magical! These aren’t *just* fireworks — they’re paired with projections, music, and other special effects that make your heart throb and your eyes weep. However, since these are such popular shows, it can be hard to find a good spot. Here’s why you DON’T have to spend nearly an hour saving your spot for the show.

Watch From Further Back on Main Street U.S.A.

Many guests want to be up close and personal with the castle to see the fireworks as best they can, but up there, you’re missing half the show!

Projections on Main Street, U.S.A.

Did you know there are projections all along Main Street U.S.A. to go with the fireworks? That means if you’re super close to the castle, you won’t even get to see them! That’s why we recommend watching the fireworks from further back on Main Street U.S.A., the farthest away you can get, really, so you’ll have the best view of the whole show. Plus, you’ll be able to turn around and make it out of the park quicker too.

Watch From Behind The Castle

If you’re not a fan of projections at all and really only care about the fireworks themselves, then watch the show from behind Cinderella Castle.

Fireworks from behind the castle!

Keep in mind, you won’t be seeing ANY of the projections this way, just the fireworks from the opposite side of the actual show, but it won’t interfere with your view of those at all. Plus, you’ll likely have much more room to breathe and move around without people crowding you on every side. Sometimes, Disney Princesses come out from Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurants to greet guests back there and watch the fireworks themselves!

Check If Tomorrowland Terrace is Open

Tomorrowland Terrace is a restaurant in Tomorrowland that has been closed for quite some time. Sometimes Disney holds special events or fireworks dessert parties from this spot, but if it’s open for you to walk through during the fireworks, this is a fantastic place to sit.

Now, it may be roped off, but if by the off chance it’s not, it’s a great place to view the fireworks and the projections on the castle from a side view. Not to mention you’ll get to sit down, which is always a plus after a long day of walking.

A Fireworks Dessert Party

If it’s in the budget, you could also splurge on a Fireworks Dessert Party! These, while expensive, are a great way to guarantee yourself a good spot for the show, and allow you to dine on some desserts before the main event.

Fireworks Dessert Parties are a great way to get a good view (with snacks!)

These parties are also all-you-can-eat — there’s no limit on how many treats you can indulge in during the event, which is another perk for a lot of people.
