How Hotels Are CHANGING in Disney World in 2024!

We could stay an entire week at Disney World and only visit the resorts! But alas with the new year comes new updates and changes to our homes away from home.

Coronado Springs Resort Gran Destino Tower

If you’re visiting Disney World in 2024, you’re going to want to grab your pen to jot down these changes coming to Disney World hotels.

When you’re not walking the parks, you’re probably at the resort pool, right? If so, you’ll want to know about upcoming pool closures coming early 2024. The resorts affected will be Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

Caribbean Beach Resort

Say it’s not so! The Calypso vibes at the old Spanish citadel will temporarily be unavailable in early 2024. The Fuentes del Morro Pool at Caribbean Beach will be undergoing routine maintenance from January 2024 to late March 2024. During this closure, guests are invited to swim in any of the 5 leisure pools found at this hotel. Looks like these updates will be done just in time for the summer months!

It’s Scales the sea serpent!

If you are hoping to slide down “Scales” the giant sea serpent on your next Disney getaway, you’ll have to wait until after April 2024 to do so. That’s only because the Doubloon Lagoon pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will be closed from January 2024 to April 2024. Guests will have access to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside‘s Ol’ Man Island pool. The walk from the French Quarter to Riverside is approximately a half mile. But the view of the Sassagoula River is beautiful!

Look at that view!

We can’t wait to say Aloha! to the new Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Tower in 2024! We’ve been paying close attention to the progress being made on the tower, and they have made huge strides in the past months. The view these new villas will offer is something out of a fairytale. Also, did we mention the tower is going to bring more recreation and dining options to guests? Because it is!

New cabins are heading to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds! Disney Vacation Club proposed that 350+ refreshed cabins would replace the current ones. Not in the DVC? No worries! These cabins, although a DVC lineup, will be available for all guests to reserve. The concept art gives off a more modern vibe that we are so excited to see! These cabins are expected to be open in 2024.

Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

Let’s stroll on over to Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. Guest rooms are in the middle of getting an upgrade in decor and furniture. What can we expect these rooms to look like? The artwork will feature images of Mickey, Minnie, and other Disney pals as they stroll through the BoardWalk. All of these updates are expected to be completed in 2024.

Cake Bake Shop Coming Soon!

Coming in 2024 is also the opening of The Cake Bake Shop® Bakery by Gwendolyn Rogers! The atmosphere will have a whimsical feel with French porcelain displays and offer a variety of cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, and cheesecakes. Our tummies are growling with anticipation!

Grand Floridian

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is getting a nice refresh in several areas around the stately resort. The rooms will be getting updated furniture and color schemes. In fact, some rooms are already available to guests. If you plan on staying in 2024, you’ll get to see the new look! The Floridian is also getting an update in their grand lobby and three of their restaurants, including Narcoosee’s, Citricos, and Victoria & Albert’s Restaurant.

INSIDE the Galactic Starcruiser

Another big change that will be different for 2024 visitors is the one less hotel offered at Disney World. The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has taken its final voyage. The extravagant, fully immersive experience closed its doors, after 19 months in orbit, on September 30th, 2023. Back in May 2023, Disney announced the impending closure. Star Wars fans, near and far far away, were saddened to hear this news!

Wow! That’s a lot of change coming our way. We love our Disney World hotels, and we can’t wait to see what the new updates and changes bring to vacation goers in 2024!
