Genie+ has had its fair share of controversy since it was first rolled out, but we can’t deny how handy the service can be in Disney World.
If you’re looking to save time in line so you can maximize your trip, Genie+ can be a great way to do it. But, it’s a service you have to pay for and you’re only able to access so many Lightning Lanes per day, so deciding what rides to use it on can be a big deal. This begs the question, is anyone actually using Genie+ for these Disney rides?
Using Genie+ in Disney World can help you save precious time on your vacation. But, with so many attractions throughout the parks, how do you choose which ones to use a Lightning Lane for? We’ve done the research and know that sometimes using Genie+ at certain attractions is pretty much a total waste of time. So, how do you know which ones aren’t?
The BEST rides to use Genie+ on are those super popular ones with long lines — think Peter Pan’s Flight, Jungle Cruise, Soarin’, Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror — you get the idea. Attractions that will mean you’ll have to wait in a long, winding line that bobs and weaves. Rides that are constantly in motion tend to flow well, as Cast Members can move large groups of people through at once.
What you don’t want to do, though, is waste those Lightning Lanes on attractions where you can really go any “faster” or skip to the front of the line, because there really isn’t one. We can explain. Certain attractions are more show-based, meaning you’ll wait to enter a theater setting to sit and enjoy a performance — whether live or not.
You’ll likely still have to wait in a “line” or group of sorts, but using a Lightning Lane doesn’t really speed you past anyone else who’s waiting with you.
Whether you use a Lightning Lane or not, you’ll be stuck waiting for the next show to start regardless. Even though you have a Lightning Lane, the Cast Members can’t really speed the show along since it operates on a fixed schedule and time slot.
Well, then, what’s the point of using a Lightning Lane on these types of attractions? Typically, you’ll get priority seating and a good spot for the show!
Here’s a look at the attractions we wouldn’t recommend using Genie+ for in each park:
