A new character has arrived at Disney Springs for the 2023 holiday season. Douglas Fir is a talking and moving tree that can be seen roaming Disney Springs, visiting his distant relatives at the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll.
Douglas Fir Talking Tree Character
Douglas is a relatively small tree with just some green lights and no other decorations. He’s in a brown box base that rolls along, so he can navigate the crowds and interact with guests — a literal strolling Christmas tree.
We caught up to him outside Once Upon a Toy, where Santa Claus meets guests.
Though he doesn’t have a face or mouth, he can hold a conversation. The technology is similar to that once used for Push the Talking Trash Can and similar interactive roaming characters.
Last month, Disneyland Resort tested the more complex BD-1 style roaming droids in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Douglas Fir should be available from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday through Sunday, and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll features a new “Wish” tree and Disney Vacation Club tree this year. There is also a Disney Treasure-inspired topiary and the Annual Passholder tree has been completely reimagined.
