Are you ready for some dessert and hot cocoa? This EPCOT Festival of the Holidays booth is one of the BEST when it comes to sweet treats and festive drinks.
The 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun! There are SO MANY food booths with tasty items, and we’re trying out all of them! Don’t let the long list of tasty eats overwhelm you — we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Holiday Sweets & Treats booth — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
The Holiday Sweets & Treats booth is important even if you’re NOT trying anything on the menu because it’s where you need to go to get your completer prize if you finish the Cookie Stroll! Bring your fully stamped festival passport back to this booth to receive a specialty prize cookie.
Menu
Over at the Holiday Sweets & Treats booth, you’ll find a variety of available items. Most of them are drinks (including some NEW ones!), but there’s one dessert item on the menu.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
We grabbed the only treat on the menu: the Peppermint Sundae for $6.25. This treat is made with chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, and peppermint candy. In 2021, we thought this treat was sweet and refreshing. So how does this year’s version compare?
This is nothing like a sundae. Instead, it’s like a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and peppermint crumbles on top. It needed another layer of something to be more like a sundae. We’re not sure what it’s missing, but we guess it works as a milkshake.
As you can tell, it can also melt fast, but that’s a Florida problem we have with any kind of ice cream-based treat.
Drinks
In terms of drinks at this booth, we got the non-alcoholic Chocolate Peppermint Shake featuring Twinings Peppermint Cheer Tea for $4.75. You can also get this shake with whipped cream vodka for $12. Last year, we thought this shake had a great peppermint flavor that married beautifully with the chocolate taste. This actually reminded us of a Wendy’s frosty, and it still lives up to the hype.
We also got the boozy version of this drink, the Chocolate Peppermint Shake featuring Twinings Peppermint Cheer Tea and whipped cream vodka for $12. Why not, right? A BOOZY Wendy’s Frosty?!
So, whipped cream vodka was DEFINITELY the right choice for this drink, making it smooth, a little icy, and sweet. When it all mixes with the chocolate flavor and the dash of peppermint on top, it’s a little bit extra. The boozy version is the superior version.
We also grabbed the Hot Cocoa by Joffrey’s Coffee for $4. It’s served warm with little marshmallows on top. It’s just a regular hot cocoa, but we did appreciate that it comes with a lid if you want to sip and stroll. Although we got the non-alcoholic version, you can also get it with any of the following liqueurs: Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream Liqueur, or Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey for $12.50.
Finally, we snagged the Beer Flight so we could try out the two NEW beers on the menu. This flight includes Breckenridge Brewery Christmas Ale (which is returning), the new Brew Hub Sugar Plum Red Ale, and the new Left Hand Brewing Co. Chai Milk Stout. Each beer costs $5.75 for 6oz. or $9.75 for 12 oz. or you can get the flight for $10.50.
The Breckinridge Brewery Christmas Ale is nice and light, but has a hearty aftertaste as it goes down your throat. We tried this one last year and thought it tasted very Christmassy.
The Brew Hub Sugar Plum Red Ale has a very sugar plum taste to it. We actually thought this tasted more like a wine than a beer. It’s pretty pleasant.
The Left Hand Brewing Co. Chai Milk Stout almost tastes like it belongs at Starbucks and we say that like it’s a good thing. The chai milk gives it a nice spicy cinnamon flavor that we enjoyed.
So what are our overall impressions of this booth?
OVERALL
Is there anything special about this booth? Well, no, although if it’s a chilly day or evening and you’re looking for something to warm up with, you can’t go wrong with just a plain hot chocolate, right? Although on those warmer days, you can still get those holiday vibes with the Chocolate Peppermint Shake featuring Twinings Peppermint Cheer Tea, but we’ll recommend getting it with the whipped cream vodka because that elevates it. There are also some great beers here that we think most beer drinkers will enjoy.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
