REVIEW: We Had 4 Limited-Time Treats at the Disney World Hotels!

We are in full-swing holiday mode!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

And we are always on the lookout for holiday treats! While visiting a couple of Disney World Resort hotels the other day, we picked up four seasonal items and gave them a try!

We stopped by Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and grabbed a few sweet snacks! Overall, all four hit the spot and we think you’d enjoy them.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

The Mara

The Mara is where you can find some gingerbread goodies and other holiday treats that go along with their gingerbread display which includes a baby giraffe, Ginger-affe, and a baby zebra, Debra.

While we stopped by the hotel, we picked up the Gingeraffe cookie and the Mickey Santa Hat Tart! The Gingeraffe cookie is $6.79 and the Mickey Santa Hat Tart is $6.49. The cookie is a sugar cookie (greenery) and gingerbread (giraffe) cookie combo with white chocolate, M&M’s, and a holiday wreath.

Gingeraffe cookie

It is a soft, chewy, and thick cookie. It’s not a very strong gingerbread flavor with a lesser spice flavor which was nice as it didn’t taste artificial. It is adorable and almost the perfect holiday cookie. We really enjoyed it. A quick word of warning though–they are fragile due to being so soft.

The Mickey Santa Hat Tart is a vanilla tart with pistachio cake, chai mousse, and caramel ganache. As you can guess, it has a lot of flavors competing for the spotlight.

Mickey Santa Hat Tart

Not one individual flavor stood out more than the others. The tart is hard and crunchy with the cake being pretty crumbly and dry. The mousse had a soft, creamy texture and the caramel ganache was delicious. Each flavor separately was great, but in one large bite, it became a lot. The dessert is also large and easily shareable, so that’s a bonus!

Pop-Up Holiday Bar

We were a little surprised by a pop-up holiday bar when we arrived at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!  It has several options ranging in price.

We decided to try the Holiday Fruitcake Mule for $18. The mule is Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, Hella Cocktail Co. Apple Blossom Bitters, Cranberry Juice, and Rosemary topped with Ginger Beer.

Holiday Fruitcake Mule

First off, if you don’t care for mules or ginger beer in general, you probably wouldn’t care for this drink. It is very festive. Our reporter said she felt like she was at a holiday party sipping a holiday cocktail. The ginger beer is prominent with the whisky coming through slightly. There was a healthy flavor of cranberry and a nice twist with the rosemary!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

At Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club, you can always trust you’ll find a decadent specialty shake. Now, you can get the very festive Holiday Shake which is a cookie butter milkshake with caramel drizzle and holiday sprinkles topped with a Christmas tree cupcake. All of it is $15.50.

Holiday Shake

If you have a thing against food coloring, you may want to try another shake because there is a whole lot of red and green going on with this one! The cookie butter shake is thin with a sweet and sugary flavor. There are hints of caramel, but it’s not the main event by any means. Unfortunately, what you can taste is the food coloring in the glass and your mouth will be stained.

It’s a good shake, just lots of food coloring!

The cupcake is nice and moist. The whipped topping is fluffy and green (more food coloring). Overall, you get A LOT, and we think this could easily be shared.

It’s fun getting to find and try all new and returning holiday treats around the parks and hotels. Be sure to stop by all the different locations to try them all!
