This Is What Happens When Disney’s Jungle Cruise Breaks Down (and It’s Almost As Good As the Ride)

Have you ever seen a ride break down in the Disney theme parks?

Disneyland

We just spotted something really cool that happened recently when Jungle Cruse broke down! These Cast Members took an unfortunate situation and turned it into entertainment that was almost as good as the ride itself.

We recently shared a story with you about a Jungle Cruise boat being towed after the boat broke down mid-ride.

Now, DFB reader Barb Close has shared another fun story about this classic attraction.

When a ride breaks down in a Disney theme park, Cast Members stick around in the area to let guests know that the ride is down and inform them about when it could reopen.

Rise does break down quite often

Sometimes those Cast Members go above and beyond by coming up with extra entertainment and games for the guests who are waiting for the ride! We’ve seen clap boxes (we love those)…

…yard games, and more.

Making sure the space doesn’t go to waste!

Over in Disneyland, when Jungle Cruise was down for a while, the Cast Members took guests on a “land cruise!”

Skipper Rebecca started the land cruise by gathering guests all around and reminding them to watch their heads and steps as they “boarded the boat.” She reminded everyone how important it is to keep their hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the land at all times.

First up on the cruise was the Temple of the Forbidden Eye (AKA the Indiana Jones ride that’s right next to Jungle Cruise). What a view.

Guests also spotted a “Himalayan Tiger” (just pretend those spots are stripes). Skipper Rebecca told a fun fact about these tigers: The side of the tiger that usually has the MOST stripes is…the outside. 😂

There were some Indian elephants bathing in the pool, but don’t worry — they all had their trunks on.

Guests also spotted some monkeys making trouble at the campsite…

…and they waved hello to a zebra who was sleeping peacefully while being watched over by very gentle lions, of course.

We even got to see the amazing, the spectacular, the incredible, the eighth wonder of the world — the back side of water!!

The cruise was attacked by a few aggressive hippos, but Skipper Rebecca scared them away.

Trust us — you’ll want to see how she did it! You can watch the whole land cruise below:

Disney Cast Members are the best, and we’re especially grateful for them when they come up with fun games and extras like this!
