An EXTINCT Form of Disney Transportation Is RETURNING — But Only for a SUPER Limited Time

Are you as obsessed with Disney history as we are?

Bus transportation at Disney World

Yes, we’ve listened to a ton of Disney history podcasts, and we’ve OBVIOUSLY watched Behind The Attraction on Disney+… MULTIPLE times. We made sure we enjoyed the special Christmas with Walt Disney film, too. Disney transportation has a rich history that we’re fascinated with, and now we can see Disney transportation history IN ACTION on New Year’s Day.

There’s an attraction in Magic Kingdom that most visitors walk right by. Some people may not have noticed it at all. But it’s the Omnibus that runs down Main Street, U.S.A., and YES, you can ride the double-decker bus. Next time you find yourself in Magic Kingdom, you should TOTALLY hop on.

Omnibus in Magic Kingdom

The Omnibus has been around since 1956. It was originally designed by Disney Legend Bob Gurr, who also had a hand in designing some of Disney’s most iconic ride transportation systems, including the Doom Buggies for Haunted Mansion. Well, you can now see one of the older Omnibuses in a special event that’s happening on January 1st. Believe it or not, there used to be a World Showcase Omnibus that would take you around the world in EPCOT (and considering how long that walk is, we think this Omnibus needs to make a comeback).

If you plan on watching the 2024 Tournament of Roses parade on January 1st, you can see this Omnibus in action. Riding on the Omnibus will be the President of The Tournament of Roses, Alex Aghajanian, and his family.

You can watch the parade live on ABC and NBC, as well as stream it live on the Roku Channel, Amazon Freevee and Prime Video, LG Channels, Sling FreeStream, Christmas Plus App, PlutoTV, and YouTube. The parade begins at 12PM, 10AM CST, and 9AM EST. This is the third Rose Parade to feature a Disney vehicle designed by Gurr. The others were the Disneyland Mouseorail and the Disneyland Fire Engine.
