Listen, we’re not going to sugarcoat it.
Disney World has changed a LOT over the past few years. Some changes were welcomed by fans and others proved to be a little bit controversial. No matter how you slice it, Walt Disney was a fan of progress, and it looks like that progress is going to continue based on the newest Disney World permits we found!
We take a look at permits recently filed by Disney to get an idea of what might be in store for the parks and more, and here’s what we found this time around.
EPCOT
The BEST pizza place in all of Disney World could be getting a refresh soon — we found a permit that matches up with Via Napoli in EPCOT!
It doesn’t look like any closures are listed on the Disney World website for this restaurant, so we’re not expecting any major work over here. The permit description is for “general construction,” but we’ll let you know if the project might impact your trip.
Hollywood Studios
If you’re looking for a quick and reliable bite to eat in Hollywood Studios, look no further than Backlot Express! You’ll find hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and more at this counter-service spot, and while it’s nothing to write home about — it does the job.
We found a recently filed permit for Backlot Express that indicates some electrical work might be starting soon. It doesn’t appear as though it will impact any operations of the restaurant, though, so you should be good to order those french fries with a side of plastic cheese on your next visit. Stay tuned for any updates!
Magic Kingdom
During our last permit roundup, we mentioned a recently filed Notice of Commencement for work at Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom — and it looks like that work is just getting started!
Another permit has been filed in this area — but for the Caribbean Plaza section in between the entrance to Pirates and Tortuga Tavern. This one is also for general construction, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for any projects that might impact your trip.
Disney World Hotels
It’s no secret that the Disney World hotels are going through some serious changes — and we found a couple of new permits to prove it! A new, general construction permit has been filed for work on the main building at the Contemporary Resort…
…and a similar permit has been filed for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. For now, your stay shouldn’t be impacted, but we’ll let you know if that changes.
