Following the release of the reprint of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, market prices are dropping for the first and second chapters of the game. When The First Chapter was first released in August and September of 2023, fans found it hard to get their hands on product. Some of the rarest cards were selling online for up to $1,000. While an expensive resale market still exists, pricing at game stores and online is leveling out.
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter — Price Drop
For example, MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) for the Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter booster box is $143.99. According to TCG Player, the booster box is currently being sold for around $159.07, which isn’t a massive upcharge. At its peak price around the summer release, the box was going for $402.63. Its next highest price was $385.84, but it has been dropping ever since, reaching a low of $155.76 earlier this month and then mostly plateauing since.
The First Chapter Illumineer’s Trove isn’t listed quite as close to MSRP, but the Trove wasn’t reprinted like the boosters and starter decks. The Trove’s MSRP is $49.99 and its current market price on TCG Player is $166.16. Still, it dropped significantly from its peak of $187.32 a few weeks ago.
In the past few weeks, as reprints of The First Chapter began hitting shelves, fans have reported a much easier time getting products. With supply now meeting demand, prices are staying closer to MSRP.
Though the release of Disney Lorcana has had some problems, the reprint proves Ravensburger is following through on their promise to make the game as available and affordable as possible for everyone who wants to play.
That said, some people are still trying to sell the First Chapter products for inflated prices. We spotted this Illumineer’s Trove for a whopping $350 this weekend.
The same location had a First Chapter gift set for $179.99 (MSRP $29.99) and starter decks for $49.99 (MSRP $16.99).
Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn — Price Drop
As for the second chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, TCG Player now lists the Booster Box as below MSRP. The current market price is $141.15, with TCG Player listing it for $140.45. When the Amazon virtual queue to purchase items from Rise of the Floodborn first opened on December 1, the Booster Box was priced at $143.99. This price drop comes just 19 days into the game’s release.
The third chapter of Disney Lorcana, Into the Inklands, will be released in February and March 2024. Read more.
