I think we can all be honest with each other here — the Disney World app has its faults.
My Disney Experience is useful when you’re trying to Mobile Order your next meal or check the wait times, but between the confusing Genie+ system, the clunky search function, and the random glitches that we’ve experienced in the past, we’ve had a fair share of frustrations with the app. But apparently, there’s one frustration plaguing app users that’s such a big problem Disney is issuing a WARNING.
Today we were just la dee da scrolling, minding our own business, when this message popped up on the home screen of My Disney Experience. It reads, “This app contains in-app purchases for services like Disney PhotoPass downloads that cost real money.”
Umm…have you guys been paying with Monopoly money? Because if so, we want to get in on that! Our accountant would be a lot happier with us if we could avoid touching our bank account during Disney trips.
It seems as though some guests have been making purchases through the app, not realizing that they needed to actually PAY for those purchases. Possibly kids getting ahold of their parents’ phones?
We’re usually pretty lucid when we buy our Corn Dog Nuggets, but in case you were wondering where those random charges came from during your vacation — this might be a helpful warning. Many people keep credit or debit card information saved to their Disney account, and if you let your little ones use your phone unsupervised, it’s easy to make a number of purchases through the app.
Disney hasn’t shared the official reason why this warning is showing up now, but we’ll keep you in the loop if we get any more details.
