Disneyland’s Bag Policy

Disneyland has specific rules regarding the types of bags guests can bring into the parks. To ensure a smooth entry process, be sure your bags comply with their guidelines. Here is a comprehensive overview of Disneyland’s bag policy:

Bag Size Restrictions

  • Bags larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high are not permitted. This includes suitcases, coolers, and backpacks with wheels.
  • Guests are allowed to bring small single-compartment backpacks, purses, totes, and diaper bags that meet the size requirements.

Prohibited Items

Bags are searched before entering the parks, and the following items are prohibited:

  • Weapons, pepper spray, or anything that looks like a weapon
  • Marijuana and other illegal substances
  • Outside alcohol and glass containers
  • Drones and remote-controlled toys
  • Folding chairs
  • Selfie sticks that expand

Security Check Process

  • All guests and bags must pass through security screening to enter the parks.
  • Guests may be asked to open their bags for visual inspection. Bag searches are random.
  • Walk-through metal detectors screen guests for prohibited items.

Bags on Rides

Here are some key points about Disneyland’s bag policy for rides:

  • Bags are allowed on nearly all rides at Disneyland. The only exceptions are a few water rides where your bags may get wet.
  • Bags must be able to fit fully within the ride vehicles. Any bag larger than 24″ x 15″ x 18″ is not permitted in the parks.
  • For rollercoasters and thrill rides, small bags can be placed at your feet or in a pouch on the ride vehicle. Keep valuables with you.
  • On slower rides like dark rides, boats, and PeopleMovers, bags can sit next to you during the ride.
  • Never leave bags unattended outside of rides. Either keep them with you or rent a locker. Theft can occur.
  • Strollers are not safe storage. Do not leave bags in strollers outside of rides.
  • Be courteous of other riders when bringing bags on rides. Do not let bags intrude into other seats.
  • For water rides, use lockers or keep valuables in resealable plastic bags. Bags may get wet.
  • Ask a Cast Member if you need help finding a place to store your bags before a ride. They can point you in the right direction.

  • Guests with medical requirements can bring items like syringes and prescription medications if accompanied by a doctor’s note.
  • Medications that aren’t in their original containers may need verification.

  • Lockers inside the parks rent for $7-$10 per day depending on size.
