We love the McDonald’s near Disney World
We’ve covered a lot of news from the Golden Arches over the years, from Happy Meal toys to new menu items. But one thing that we love to talk about is bizarre McDonald’s history…and today we’ve got a piece of trivia that you may not know!
McDonald’s shared a new TikTok discussing a menu item from many years ago. Did you know that before there was Chicken McNuggets, McDonald’s used to serve ONION nuggets?!

In the video, the person behind the McDonald’s account interviews Mike Bullington, who is head of Archival at the company. Bullington shares that from 1978-1979, McDonald’s sold bite-sized pieces of onions! And yes, they were totally discontinued because people didn’t buy enough of them. (Go figure, right?!)

The good news is that the onion fiasco spawned the Chicken McNuggets that we know and love today. Where onions failed, chicken became a worldwide phenomenon!
