Marvel Studios has announced that a Black Panther animated series, “Eyes of Wakanda” will premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
Black Panther ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Series Coming in 2024
The announcement was made at a premiere event for the second season of the Marvel animated series, “What If… ?,” which hits Disney+ on December 22.
Along with the announcement of the series, set in the fictional kingdom of Wakanda that moviegoers were introduced to in the 2018 film, “Black Panther,” guests at the premiere event were given this official description:
Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.
Casting news and other details about the animated series have yet to be announced. It joins previously-revealed “X-Men ’97” and “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” (formerly titled “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”) on the Disney+ lineup of new animated series coming in 2024.
“Black Panther,” and its 2022 sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” were both record-breaking films for The Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios. Back in 2021, a Black Panther series was announced as being in production for Disney+, but details on whether it would be animated or live-action were not made clear. At the time, the films’ director and co-writer, Ryan Coogler, had signed a five-year exclusive television deal with Disney.
