Actor Jonathan Majors has been fired by Disney and Marvel Studios after being found guilty of assault.
The actor played Kang the Conquerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadline has reported that Marvel has fired actor Jonathan Majors following a December 18th, 2023 guilty verdict on assault charges. Majors was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment in a domestic violence trial heard by a six-person jury in New York City.
A representative from Marvel confirmed the decision to fire Majors from his role as Kang the Conquerer aka He Who Remains in the Cinematic Universe. The character debuted during the first season of Loki on Disney+ and continued the role in Loki’s second season, along with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earlier this year.
Kang was being set up as Marvel’s latest big villain for Phases 5 and 6, with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty set to premiere on May 1st, 2026. It’s unclear how this decision will impact the future of this and other Marvel projects.
The studio isn’t new to replacing actors, as Terrance Howard’s Rhodey was replaced with Don Cheadle after Iron Man.
Majors was fired by his manager and publicist shortly after his arrest back in March, and Marvel is now the latest to join the list. Stay tuned to DFB as we bring you the latest Disney news.
