Anaheim Police officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the Disneyland Hotel on the evening of Thursday, December 21st, 2024.

Officials reported the call was a false alarm, and determined it was a hoax played by young people or teenagers.

Sgt. Jon McClintock told the Orange County Register, that the Anaheim Police Department responded with guns drawn and a “significant police response” at 6:10PM at the Disneyland Hotel. The official Anaheim Police X (Twitter) account shared, “Responding officers quickly determined the report was a hoax.”

Tonight, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Anaheim PD Officers received a report of an active shooter at or near the Disneyland Hotel prompting a significant police response. Responding Officers quickly determined the report was a hoax.

Police officials shared there was no evidence of a shooting or anyone armed at the hotel, but the Fantasy Tower of the hotel was evacuated. The police later shared that there was no active threat to Disneyland Resort but that there would still be an increased police presence in the area. Later, a Disney fan shared on X (Twitter) that there was a helicopter circling above the Disneyland Hotel.

Officers thoroughly checked the area and did not locate any evidence a shooting occurred.  There is currently no threat to the Disneyland Resort or the surrounding area.  There will be an increased police presence at the Disneyland Resort and surrounding area.
