OK, Disney Lost This Contest BIG TIME. And We’re Kind of Surprised?

It’s no secret that we love Disney food. It’s right there IN OUR NAME. Maybe that makes us a little biased, but we think Disney food can be some of the best in the world (and no, we won’t be taking any questions).

We could also point out that Disney World has a wine bar run by a Master Sommelier (and that is a HUGE distinction). Oh, and two Disney World restaurants have been recognized by Michelin Guide — you can’t scoff at that. But when it comes to Disney Cruise Line, APPARENTLY, we could be a little wrong about the food (no, we’re not).

Food & Wine Magazine recently held its Global Tastemakers Awards, which asks its readers to celebrate the “best culinary destinations in the U.S. and abroad.” Readers voted based on trips they’d taken in three years, and one of the categories was “Best Cruises for Food.” And no, Disney Cruise Line did NOT come in first place.

So how did Disney Cruise Line compare to other cruise lines? Well, here’s how the voting went and how each Cruise Line was ranked:

  1. Viking
  2. Regent Seven Seas Cruises
  3. Oceania Cruises
  4. AmaWaterways
  5. Princess Cruises
  6. Norwegian Cruise Line
  7. Disney Cruise Line
  8. Holland America Line
  9. Celebrity Cruises
  10. Royal Caribbean International

Disney came in…7th? Yes, we’re surprised. We’ve had some pretty amazing meals aboard Disney Cruise Line, which also included some unique dining experiences themed around Frozen and Marvel. We’re also big fans of Palo, one of the signature fine dining experiences aboard several Disney Cruise ships. And Enchante is absolutely incredible! So we’re not sure how Disney landed in 7th place, but we know where it lies in our heart (#1, just like Donald Duck).
