Work finally began last month on the Illumination mural on the wall behind Minion Cafe in Minion Land at Universal Studios Florida. The mural was teased in concept art of the land and the back wall of the Transformers: The Ride 3D building was painted teal blue to prepare for the mural. The land officially opened in August, but the mural is only now being painted.
Illumination Mural in Minion Land
So far, the mural includes two yellow sections that create the shape of a Minion’s head.
The yellow sections curve around a white circle with a smaller black circle inside it, representing the Minion’s eye. Another white half-circle is on the top of the building.
Three black lines represent the Minion’s hair, and “Bello!” is inside the pupil. Where a Minion’s goggle strap would be are the faces of three other Illumination characters.
The characters appear to be Buster Moon from “Sing,” Gru from the “Despicable Me” franchise, and Gidget from “The Secret Life of Pets” films.
The above photos were taken on November 24.
As of December 13, the only additions have been three more character faces in white bubbles to the right. Those characters appear to be Johnny from “Sing,” Snowball from “The Secret Life of Pets” films, and Gunter, also from “Sing.”
The completed mural as seen in the concept art includes more characters and “Illumination” across the Minion.
