The Disney Magic was Disney Cruise Line’s first ship, setting sail on its maiden voyage on July 30, 1998. The Magic set the standard for future Disney Cruise Line ships, with the following Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy featuring almost the exact same stateroom designs. We recently stayed in an ocean view stateroom on the Disney Magic.

After entering the stateroom, the two doors on the right lead to the split bathrooms, while the closet is to the left.
There are three light switches, labeled for the toilet, cabin, and entrance. Note that you can’t turn the lights on in your room until you put your Key to the World card (or a similarly-sized card) into a slot near the door.
The bathrooms are a step up from the cabin floor. The first bathroom has the toilet and a vanity.
The unit attached to the wall to the right is the hair dryer and an outlet for shavers.
Disney has placed a Disney Cruise Line sticker over the H2O+ logo on the soap and other products. The H2O+ brand was discontinued last year but Disney recently announced they would continue to sell their own products using the H2O+ formulas.
The wall and floor are mostly made up of white tiles with blue accents. Throughout the stateroom are built-in wood pieces with glass shelves. The shelves have metal bars to keep things from sliding off and to the floor.
Disney Cruise Line towels are all debossed with the DCL logo featuring a Mickey head and three wavy lines.
The second bathroom has the tub and shower, and another vanity.
The Disney Cruise Line stickers have been rubbed off some of the H2O+ products in the shower, unfortunately resulting in a less-than-stellar appearance.
There is a removable showerhead. The metal piece next to it holds a detractable drying line perfect for swimsuits.
The showers are short and the tubs are small, which is to be expected on most cruise ships.
In addition to standard towels, Disney Cruise Line provides a makeup towel in this bathroom.
The closet has two sliding doors and, in addition to space for hanging clothing, it houses life jackets and a safe.
Our stateroom had a photograph of Walt and Lillian Disney on a cruise ship in 1934.
The photograph hangs above a dresser. On top of the dresser is a shelf housing four glasses with Disney Cruise Line covers.
The drawers look thin, but the top one and bottom one are actually doubled, for a total of four drawers.
A full-length mirror hangs on the wall beside the bed.
The bed itself has Disney Cruise Line-branded bedding, including a blue runner patterned with the logo and other nautical imagery.
The cushioned headboard is dark blue, which is the predominant color in the room.
The white pillowcases and sheets feature subtle Mickey heads against a wavy background. The pillowcases have blue stripes on their edges.
Each side of the bed has two built-in shelves, a small drawer, lights, and outlets.
The lampshades feature castles and ships representing most of the Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line ships. The shades don’t include Shanghai Disney Resort and the Disney Wish.
Blue and white striped curtains can be drawn across the center of the stateroom. This separates guests sleeping in the bed from guests sleeping on the couch.
The same curtains hang in front of a porthole window. We did not have a verandah during this sailing.
The couch is also striped blue and white. It folds down into a bed, although you don’t have to worry about doing this. Your stateroom porter will set up the bed while you are at dinner.
Hanging above our couch was a framed stanza of “The Second Star to the Right” sheet music.
Across from the couch is a desk with more drawers and a red ottoman. Like the dresser near the bed, some of the drawers in this unit are doubled and some are shallow. A hairdryer is stored in these drawers, too.
A mirror hangs above the desk space, with lights on the sides. Switches built into this unit control the lights on this side of the room.
There are also outlets and the stateroom phone.
Inside the top drawer of the desk are stationary, postcards, and paper information you may need during your sailing.
A mini-fridge is hidden behind a cabinet door to the left.
Above the fridge is the TV, which is on an adjustable stand so you can turn it towards the bed or couch.
Above the TV is another cabinet.
The stateroom has a brown coffee table decorated with a golden compass rose-like design. It’s a light table that can be moved around the room easily.
