Somewhere Beyond (smwhrbeyond) shared photos on Instagram of construction of Universal’s new Las Vegas destination, Universal Horror Unleashed. Universal announced the concept in January 2023, releasing concept art that featured Jack the Clown. They trademarked “Universal Horror Unleashed” around the same time but didn’t announce the name officially until October.
Universal Horror Unleashed Construction
Concrete walls, with towers on the corners, have gone up, outlining the basic structure of the building.
Somewhere Beyond wrote in their Instagram post:
UPDATE!!! Holy cow, walls for #universalhorrorunleashed went up fast! The sheer size of this thing gets us excited for all it will offer, literally looks to be 7-8 times the size of one HHN tent! Absolutely massive! Also, you can already see all the detail in the concrete casted walls!
On what will presumably be the main entrance, a circular opening and several small rectangular openings are in a pointed section of the wall.
There are also several doorways — some standard size and some big enough for construction vehicles.
The main entrance shape, including the windows, is straight out of the concept art (below).
The artwork has Jack and two other figures welcoming guests into the experience, with a eery red glow shining through the doors and windows.
A sign on the fence clearly designates this as the Universal construction site.
The original announcement describes Universal Horror Unleashed as a new “permanent entertainment experience” bringing to life “Universal’s vast library of classic horror films and today’s most terrifying tales.”
With a variety of unique, immersive, fantastic horror-centric experiences that surround high energy food and beverage spaces by day turned haunting bars and eateries by night, the new concept marks the first time Universal has created a permanent horror experience beyond its theme parks. It will deliver on the thrills and frights its horror fans have come to love and excite anyone looking for a new level of experiential entertainment. The space will also feature a continuously updated experience, must see seasonal events, and one-of-a-kind merchandise.
The experience will be part of a 20-acre expansion of the AREA15 entertainment district that first opened in September 2020. Universal Horror Unleashed occupies a 110,000-square-foot space.
