There are two new additions to the Sunshine Seasons menu at EPCOT — a Honey Sugar Cookie and a Tropical Boba Juice — we gave both a try on a recent visit.
Honey Sugar Cookie – $3.99
This treat is a slight spin on your typical sugar cookie. It’s topped with buttercream icing, honeycomb, and a bee made of sugar. As far as appearances go, it’s definitely sweet to look at.
The cookie itself is soft and moist, similar to a chiffon cake. It’s so soft, in fact, that once we took it out of its paper casing, it started to fall apart. It has the same taste as the pre-packaged Lemon Burst Cookies you can find sold in shops around Walt Disney World. The icing is your run-of-the-mill Disney icing used on many of the desserts at the parks. Even with its extra toppings, we found that it wasn’t too sweet and was gentle on our teeth.
Overall, while there was nothing offensive about this cookie, we found there was also nothing special about it. We will say, however, that at $3.99, you can grab this Starbucks chiffon cake equivalent without having to wait in the long queue, so that counts as a win.
Tropical Boba Juice – $5.49
Minute Maid Strawberry, Minute Maid Mango, and Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade with Boba Pearls
Also new on the menu is this Tropical Boba Juice, which combines flavors of strawberry, mango, and lemonade. Though difficult to spot through the juice, there are boba pearls at the bottom of the drink.
Our first thought when we took a sip was that this drink tasted like the Walt Disney World classic POG juice. Though POG consists of passion fruit juice, orange juice, and guava juice, somehow, this combination had the same flavor profile.
We found it to have a super-tropical fruit taste, and the boba pearls made things even sweeter. We preferred the taste without the added boba. The boba are meant to be mango-flavored, but we found it difficult to distinguish any specific flavor from them. We’d have this drink again with a nice pastry in the morning.
