This springtime event offers race distances for all ages and fitness levels across its whimsical courses. Neverland 5K – Peter Pan
The weekend takes flight on April 19th with the Neverland 5K. This beginner-friendly 3.1 mile run draws inspiration from the 1953 film “Peter Pan.” Disney cast members dressed as characters like Captain Hook, Wendy and the Lost Boys cheer runners on as they journey through Neverland. The race transports you “second star to the right and straight on ’til morning” toward the finish line. There, you’ll earn a stunning medal featuring Tinkerbell and the iconic pirate ship from the adventures of Peter, Wendy and the Darling children.
Adventure is Out There 10K – Up
On April 20th, lace up your sneakers for the exhilarating Adventure is Out There 10K. This 6.2 mile course inspired by the 2009 Pixar film “Up” takes you on a journey as exciting as Carl’s South American voyage. Along the way, encounter beloved characters like Russell, Dug and Kevin the bird. Let the uplifting story of Carl’s unexpected friendship guide you to the finish line, where you’ll receive a medal highlighting the iconic house lifted by a bouquet of balloons.
Hakuna Matata 10-Miler – The Lion King
Gear up for the mane event on April 21st – the 10 mile Hakuna Matata race. Disney cast members dressed as Simba, Timon, Pumbaa and other “Lion King” characters encourage runners along this course which brings the Circle of Life to life. Channel the film’s inspiring messages about friendship, destiny and unity as you complete 10 magical miles across Walt Disney World property. At the finish, you’ll earn a shiny new medal featuring Simba, the future king.
Stitch’s ‘Ohana Challenge
Brave runners who complete ALL THREE Springtime Surprise Weekend races – the 5K, 10K and 10-Miler – earn the Stitch’s ‘Ohana Challenge medal. The achievement honors the concept of ohana, which means family, as emphasized in the 2002 film “Lilo and Stitch.” The bright, colorful design features Stitch wearing a hibiscus lei and holding a tiki torch to signify the spirit of togetherness runners embrace in accomplishing 19.3 miles during this weekend. In addition to the races, runners can enjoy the runDisney Springtime Surprise yoga session on April 18th and an exciting after party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park on April 21st.
