Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a BIG day for Pirates and Pirates fans everywhere!
Yep, Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom is one of the attractions that is considered to be an OG — with this attraction popping up just two years after the official opening of the park in 1971, and six years after the attraction arrived to Disneyland. Well, on December 15th, Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction reached a HUGE milestone.
December 15th marks Pirates of the Caribbean’s 50th Anniversary at Disney World! Yep, 50 whole years of sailing, singing, and… stealing some treasure, of course.
To celebrate, Disney shared some photos from waaaaay back in the day when the attraction was being built. Folks were so excited for the attraction to arrive to Disney World.
The signs heightened the anticipation, alerting folks that the attraction would be open for business around Christmas 1973.
If you’re a fan of the attraction, you can tune in on Disney+ to catch the Pirates of the Caribbean episode of the Behind the Attraction series.
