Jon Landau, producer of the “Avatar” films directed by James Cameron, shared a photo of himself at Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters on Instagram Wednesday.

Landau captioned the photo, “Had a great day at @waltdisneyimagineering talking about the future.”
Walt Disney World Resort already has a successful “Avatar”-inspired land in Pandora – The World of “Avatar” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Some kind of “Avatar” experience is planned for Disneyland Resort, which D23 said would be “as amazing” as the Animal Kingdom land, although no further details have been announced. An announcement at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo indicated the experience would be located in Disney California Adventure, but Disneyland officials later said the location was not confirmed.
Before the release of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” James Cameron also stated he had pitched updates to Avatar Flight of Passage to Disney.
Cameron told Variety in December 2022,
When Bob Iger came back a couple weeks ago, I did send him an email and say, ‘You know, we can do ‘Avatar 2’ and 3 motifs and put them into the physical hardware of ‘Avatar Flight of Passage.’ He liked that idea. So nothing has been decided. But, you know, we would like to carry that along and update it from time to time with things that flow back out of the new movies. Because I think there’s a good synergy between the physical base where you can go and just kind of meditate and be on Pandora and how the movies progress the story and bring in new imagery.

It’s possible Landau could have been discussing either one of these projects or something completely new.
Landau also produced “Campus Man” (1987), “Titanic” (1997), “Solaris” (2002), and “Alita: Battle Angel” (2019), and co-produced “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” (1989) and “Dick Tracy” (1990). But we doubt he was at Imagineering pitching experiences for any of these films. He’s set to produce the next three “Avatar” films.
“Avatar” is the highest-grossing film of all time while the sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” is the third highest. “Avengers: Endgame” is the second highest-grossing film. All three beat out Cameron and Landau’s “Titanic,” which held the title for over 20 years.
Pandora – The World of “Avatar” opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 27, 2017, replacing Camp Minnie-Mickey. It’s set years after the “Avatar” films, after the native Na’vi people of Pandora and humans have reached peace. Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE) is a fictional company that invites humans to explore the Valley of Mo’ara and learn about conservation. The attractions are Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Watch our video of the latter below.
