Comcast released its Q4 2023 earnings report revealing an increase in revenue for Universal theme parks, although lower revenue for Universal Orlando Resort.

The increase is 12.2 percent, from $2.11 billion to $2.37 billion. Comcast attributes the increase to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. The land soft-opened in early January 2023 before a grand opening the next month.
The land’s success was partially offset by lower revenue at Universal Orlando Resort, but Comcast stated the Florida theme parks “continued to be above comparable pre-pandemic 2019 levels.”
The adjusted EBITDA also increased by 11.6 percent from $782 million to $872 million.
We’ll likely see a significant increase in revenue for Universal Orlando Resort after Epic Universe opens in the summer of 2025. The park will have its own version of Super Nintendo World, which first opened at Universal Studios Japan. Check out our most recent Epic Universe construction update.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said of Epic Universe, “It’s completely original. It’s maybe the most exciting project I’ve seen since we bought NBCUniversal getting built.” He added that the board of directors would be visiting the construction site soon.
Universal Studios Japan will also soon open a Donkey Kong expansion to their Super Nintendo World. The Donkey Kong area will open at Super Nintendo World in Epic Universe with the park.
