Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closed for its annual refurbishment since January 8, 2024. We learned earlier this month that Disney planned to reopen the attraction in mid-March. An exact reopening date is now available.
Kali River Rapids Reopening Date
According to the operating calendar on the Kali River Rapids page of the Walt Disney World website, the water ride will reopen on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
The reopening date is always subject to change. In 2023, Kali River Rapids reopened from refurbishment two weeks early. But the refurbishment could also be extended if needed.
As a water ride, Kali River Rapids usually closes for a couple of months in the winter for standard maintenance. No major updates are expected. Watch our 2021 video of the attraction:
Kali River Rapids is a whitewater river ride in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It first opened almost a year after the rest of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, on March 18, 1999. During development, it was known as Tiger Rapids Run and it’s themed to the real Chakranadi River in Karnataka, India.
It has a height requirement of 38 inches (97 centimeters) and offers rider switch/child swap. It’s one of the few Disney rides with lockers, located at the entrance, since riders are guaranteed to get wet.
Will you be riding this whitewater river ride once it reopens to guests? Or are water rides not your favorite to experience at the Disney Parks? Let us know in the comments.
