Actress Ana Ofelia Murguía has passed away at the age of 90.
Murguia is best known for her role as Mama Coco in Disney x Pixar’s Coco.
The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura of Mexico announced the news on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, “With deep sadness we regret the sad passing of the first actress Ana Ofelia Murguía, who was part of the stable cast of the
@CNTeatromx del #INBAL and whose artistic career was vital for the performing arts of Mexico. We send condolences and warm hugs to her family and friends.”

According to ABC 13, Murguia’s “early well-known roles were in several Spanish-language films including the 1995 movie Nobody Will Speak of Us When We’re Dead.” Disney fans will recognize her as the voice actress for Mama Coco in Coco.
