Disney World isn’t the only park undergoing quite the transformation right now.
Over in Disneyland, Mickey’s ToonTown has been refreshed, the Adventureland Treehouse is once again welcoming guests, and later this year we’ll get to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. But, it looks like this isn’t the only change Disneyland will be undergoing this year according to recently filed permits!
You might have to deal with some construction at the very start of your Disneyland trip later this year! It looks like Disney will be making some improvements to the entrances of both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. New permits indicate the work was approved on December 8th, 2024.
At Disneyland Park, the permit description lists “Turnstile-Tenant Improvement: Remove Existing Turnstile And Gates And Install (38) New Automatic Guest Entry Gates, (4) Fixed Manual Gates And (6) Removable Railings. Install New Overhead Shrouds.” This project is valued at a whopping $3 million. It sounds like Disney is going to be replacing the entrance gates and turnstiles at the park entrance.
The description of the Disney California Adventure permit is pretty similar and says Disney is going to “Remove Existing Turnstile And Gates and Install (24) New Automatic Guest Entry Gates, (2) Fixed Manual Gates, And (10) Removable Railings. Install New Overhead Shrouds. Replace (2) Fabric Awnings.” This project is valued at $1.8 million.
According to Scott Gustin on X (formerly Twitter), the new gates will likely be similar to those at Disneyland Paris. They’ll be automated to open after a Cast Member scans and validates a theme park ticket. Not only that, but the update will expand the amount of available turnstiles and gates — and will also make them both stroller and ADA-compliant.

While we’re uncertain exactly when this project will begin, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re heading to Disneyland in 2024. We’ll be keeping an eye on this construction when it does start and will let you know about any important updates!
