REVIEW: We Tried the NEW Annual Passholder-Exclusive Treat in EPCOT!

There’s a NEW treat in EPCOT right now, but it’s ONLY for a select group of people.

EPCOT

Starting on January 29th, Disney World Annual Passholders can get an exclusive treat at Connections Café in EPCOT. We headed in to try it out, and now we’ve got a full review for you!

The Hei Hei Liege Waffle is a new Passholder-exclusive treat at Connections Café!

Connections Cafe & Eatery in EPCOT

Connections Café is the Starbucks location in EPCOT’s World Celebration area, and it’s attached to the Connections Eatery quick service restaurant.

Entering Connections Cafe

The Hei Hei Liege Waffle is made with brioche dough, and it’s topped with pearl sugar, a colorful chocolate drizzle, and a Hei Hei white chocolate medallion. You can grab one for $4.19.

Here it is!

The first thing you’ll notice about this treat is how stinkin’ cute it is! Who WOULDN’T want a waffle with Hei Hei on the front?!

So cute!

The next thing you’ll notice is that the Hei Hei Waffle is COVERED in sugar. Seriously, this is a kid’s DREAM come true. With all the sugar and icing on top, it reminded us more of a donut than a waffle, even though Liege waffles are traditionally coated in a sugar crust. This one was EXTRA sugary.

EXTRA sugary

Since it’s so sweet, we’d recommend splitting the Hei Hei waffle with a friend. If you don’t have a pretty big sweet tooth, you might want to skip this one altogether! Although it’s super pretty (and probably great for your Insta feed), it can be a lot with all the sweet additions.

Inside the waffle

If you want to grab this treat, you need to head to EPCOT soon. It’s only available from now through February 23rd.

Grab it soon!

To purchase the waffle, you will need to present your Annual Pass ID from the Tickets and Passes section of your My Disney Experience app, along with a valid government-issued ID.

Disney World Annual Pass

This treat isn’t the only Hei Hei-themed Annual Passholder offering in EPCOT right now. Over at the Creations Shop (also located in World Celebration in EPCOT), Passholders can now pick up their Hei Hei magnet!

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana

The magnets are also available from now through February 23rd, and you’ll need your Annual Pass and government-issued ID to pick one up.

Learn more about how to get the new magnet here!

Passholders, don’t forget that, to enter EPCOT, you’ll either need a Park Pass Reservationto visit on a “Good-to-Go” day, or to visit after 2PM. You can learn more about “Good-to-Go” days — including how to view them online and in the app — here!

Our Dreams Are Coming True — A Pirates of the Caribbean THEME PARK Is in Development!

If you can’t get enough Pirates of the Caribbean in your life — we know the feeling.

Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom

Whether it’s the first ride you swiftly walk to in Disney World and Disneyland, a comforting movie you cozy up to on a weekend or anything in between — Pirates has certainly gained itself a cult following. A new Pirates of the Caribbean experience is coming soon, but not where you might think!

Did you know that part of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were filmed in Wallilabou, St. Vincent and the Grenadines? It’s true — and that’s exactly why a Pirates-themed experience is being built there!

Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland

According to the St. Vincent Times, “Tourists and locals alike are expected to get a sense of the set used by Captain Jack Sparrow in the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean film, which was shot in Wallilabou, St Vincent, by 2025.”

This new experience is expected to provide a “significant boost” to the island, per St. Vincent’s Minister of Tourism, Carlos James. Construction is slated to begin at some point in 2024.

Pirates of the Caribbean

James shared,  “We are looking at scouting lands closest to the beach to accommodate the state-of-the-art theme park, which will include a restaurant, pool, and more. This year, we will also explore and [conceptualize] designs for a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed park at Wallilabou. It is important that we look at how we can further develop our tourism product offering. We have to ensure that we have all of the right services and sites that meet quality standards to ensure that people who come to the destination can really see the true benefit of our product.”

The theme park will incorporate design aspects from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and will include “a state-of-the-art themed park, restaurant, a full-on area, a pool, and, naturally, beach access for persons coming by sea.” We don’t know about you, but we might be booking a trip to St. Vincent in the near future!

If Enjoying These 4 Disney World Snacks Is Wrong, We Don’t Want to Be Right.

Disney World snacks are life!

Citrus Dream Donut

You might say “We’re here for the snacks” and it would be totally true. But not all snacks are made the same. You might find the snacks that we LOVE to be, shall we say, not your favorite? Let’s talk about it!

Let’s talk about the Disney World snacks that might not be your favorites, but we can’t get enough of them!

Plastic Cheese

We LOVE Plastic Cheese! That’s our affectionate name for the little cups of cheese sauce you can find at some quick service spots around Disney World, but it’s NOT the same as the cheese sauce that you get prepackaged when you buy a Mickey pretzel. This cheese has a richer cheesy flavor and it’s usually served warm instead of cold and goopy.

Fries with plastic cheese at Backlot Express

It’s not actually plastic, either. That’s just a name that we came up with because it looks so smooth and fake once it’s poured into the cup. But it’s absolutely delicious for dipping your French fries or corn dog nugs.

Dip Those Corn Dog Nuggets

Turkey Leg

Yes, the Jumbo Turkey Legs are ICONIC. They’re also EXTREMELY controversial (some fans love them and some hate them). Our team is split right down the middle with loving and hating them too.

Turkey Leg

When you’re eating this snack, you feel like you’re a caveman straight from the Mesozoic Era!

Turkey Leg at Prince Eric’s Village Market

Also, this snack isn’t just a snack — it’s a MEAL! You’ll definitely need to do some laps of the parks to walk off the 1,000 calories you’ll take in with a turkey leg!

Fuzzy Tauntaun

Ext up, we’ve got the Fuzzy Tauntaun! It’s an ICONIC drink you can typically find at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The drink is made with Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Simply® Orange with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, and “Buzz Button Tingling” Foam. That “Buzz Button Tingling” foam is what makes your mouth go numb when drinking it. We’re not kidding folks, you truly feel NUMB!!

Fuzzy TaunTaun

The foam gets this effect from an ingredient mixed into it which is a natural painkiller derived from a special Szechuan flower known as “Buzz Buttons.” The sensation is pretty bizarre, but also VERY entertaining. It wears off pretty fast so you aren’t stuck feeling numb for too long!

They don’t call it the FUZZY Tauntaun for nothing!

While it can make you feel like you’re at the dentist getting a filling, it’s definitely got a great peach flavor!

Everglazed Donuts

Last up, we’ve got to talk about Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew. You’ll find it over on the West Side of Disney Springs. Here you can find some pretty amazing specialty donuts and cold brew coffee.

Everglazed Donuts

They also have the occasional limited edition donut, like this Grilled Cheeeeeese sandwich is iconic.

Grilled Cheeeeeese Bacon Donut Sandwich Hack

Some of our team likes their donuts even more than Gideon’s cookies, whereas others on the team call blasphemy on that!

Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom

Those are just a couple of our favorite snacks that might not normally be number one on your list. For more Disney snacks and the latest updates, keep following DFB!

NEWS: Disney World Files Permit for CHANGES at the Star Wars Hotel

Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel may be closed for good, but that might not be the end of the story.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

The immersive, cruise-like experience was shuttered after it turned out that the cost to run the hotel was too much compared to the amount of money it was bringing in. Disney hasn’t made any sort of announcements about what could be next for the space or if we’d ever see anything like the Star Wars Hotel again, but we think we may have found our first hint.

Disney Vacation Planner

We still may not have an official answer, but we do have a sign — and we’ll take it! Disney World has filed a new permit for construction at the Star Wars Hotel.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Atrium

A Notice of Commencement was filed on January 25th, 2024 for “General Construction” at an address that matches up with the former Galactic Starcruiser (201 S. Studio Dr.) The contractor who will be doing the work is listed as Sunstate Awning & Graphic Design, Inc., so it’s possible that these will be some cosmetic changes and not necessarily a huge demolition or anything like that.

Climate Simulator

Permits need to be filed for all sorts of work, sometimes even minor, so while this permit is exciting it doesn’t give us too many details.

Captain Kevan of the Halcyon

But, it does mean that we could start to see even more Star Wars Hotel permits on the way as Disney ramps up their plans for this location. We spotted another permit back in October for general construction, and we know that Disney was sending surveys out to past guests to ask about their experience.

Crown of Corellia Dining Room

No matter what, it’s clear that Disney does have plans for the Star Wars Hotel. What those plans might be, we’re not quite sure yet. One thing is for sure, we’ll be on the lookout for more permits and news about what could be on the way for this space — so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news!

Parade CHANGE Announced for Magic Kingdom in Disney World

One of the absolute BEST parts of visiting Disney World is checking out the seemingly endless list of live entertainment.

Festival of Fantasy

From fireworks shows to parades, there’s some sort of live entertainment option in each of the Disney World parks, some even taking place multiple times a day. One of the most iconic parades to take place in Disney World happens each day at Magic Kingdom — the Festival of Fantasy parade! Each day at 3PM, you can catch all of the most beloved classic Disney characters as they dance their way from Frontierland to Main Street, U.S.A.. If you love the Festival of Fantasy parade, or you’re hoping to catch it for the first time on your upcoming Disney trip, you’re going to want to keep reading!

There’s been an IMPORTANT (and super exciting) update to the Festival of Fantasy schedule!

Festival of Fantasy Parade

Starting February 18th, Festival of Fantasy will go back to two showtimes per day! These shows will take place daily at both 12PM and 3PM. Right now, we can only see through March 2nd on Disney’s calendar, but it seems that this change will stick around for now!

Anna and Elsa in the Festival of Fantasy parade

There are usually two showtimes per day, but on January 16th, Magic Kingdom reduced them to only one showing per day. The showings switch between one and two times daily a few times per year.

Cinderella!

We’ll be sure to let you know if and when the showtimes change again, so make sure to follow along so that you don’t miss a thing.
