5 Sneaky Hidden Secrets in Disney Movies That Will Blow Your Mind

With Walt Disney Studios being over 100 years old, there is no doubt that their catalog of movies and characters is expansive!

Beauty and the Beast in the Festival of Fantasy parade in Disney World

We have recently uncovered some hidden treasures and facts about the costumes worn by Disney characters in their movies. These are fascinating fun facts, and we hope you find them just as interesting as we did!

Both animated and live-action costumes alike will be mentioned, and we think it is so incredibly cool that animated films, like their live-action counterparts, have costume designers who have created these hidden details!

Frozen II

The beautiful dresses and outfits in the Frozen movies have become iconic representations of our favorite Nordic characters.

Hello, Elsa!

The costume designers for Frozen II traveled to Europe, specifically Nordic countries like Finland, Norway, and Iceland, to gather ideas and influences. The resulting fashion in the movies draws inspiration directly from fashion culture within these Nordic countries!

Encanto

Have you wondered if there are any hidden hints about each character’s magical gift in their clothing?

The Encanto costume designers, and real-life sisters Neysa and Lorelay Bové, revealed that each character’s clothing is reminiscent of their gift! Spices adorn Julieta’s skirt, while Luisa’s skirt has dumbells embroidered on it! Antonio’s vest features animals, while Dolores’ costume is decorated with sound waves!

Beauty and the Beast (2017)

The 2017 live-action edition of Beauty and the Beast features a lot of fun facts and costume considerations!

Hi, Belle!

For example, Gaston’s outfits differ slightly from his animated counterpart. The costume designer of the movie, Jacqueline Durran, explained that they took inspiration from 18th-century military style and dressed Gaston according to that.

©Disney

And get this — Prince Adam’s (aka, the Beast in human form) first outfit is adorned with thousands of real Swarovski crystals! The embroidery on his coat also features a wild boar, a dragon, and a lion, all to be reminiscent of his family crest.

Cruella (2021)

Cruella does nothing subtly, and the same can be said for her costume designers.

Don’t act like Cruella in the parks!

Oscar-winning costume designer, Jenny Beavan described just how intricate the costumes of Cruella were, stating that over 5,000 petals were used for the large petal-covered gown worn by Cruella in the film. More accurately, 5,060 petals were used for that dress. That’s a lot of petals!

She’s fabulous!

These facts are so neat to us! We love learning more about what goes into making the magic we all love to watch on screen, and we absolutely admire all of the hard work put into it.

5 Random Things You Pack That’ll Earn You an EXTRA Security Search in Disney World

If you’ve been to Disney World before, you know that you go through security when you arrive at the parks.

Spaceship Earth in EPCOT

The check usually includes a walk through an advanced scanning device, and then you’re on your merry way. They’re looking out for prohibited items like weapons, pyrotechnics, and even selfie sticks. However, sometimes items that are totally fine to have in the parks will set off the scanners, and then you’ll be subjected to a very thorough bag check! Here are some of the super random items that have caused us problems in the past.

Umbrellas

The first thing on the list is probably the most common! Anytime we’re at the parks for a stormy day, the security Cast Members will be calling out for visitors to remove umbrellas from their bags as they walk through the scanners.

Dark Side Light-up Umbrella

If you hold the umbrella directly in front of you, they’ll likely let you through security no problem. But without fail, umbrellas seem to almost always set off the alarm if they’re stowed in our bags!

Large Phone Chargers

It’s a pretty good idea to bring a portable phone charger with you to Disney World, considering you’ll be using your phone for everything from Genie+ to Mobile Ordering to snapping pictures. All that stuff drains your battery FAST! But if you’ve got a large charger brick, you might need to remove it from your backpack when you go through security.

Heavy Duty Portable Charger by Kapurui

Small portable chargers don’t typically cause too many problems, but the larger battery packs designed to fully charge your phone or charge multiple devices will often get flagged. Just do yourself a favor and take it out of the bag and hold it in front of you, just like the umbrella.

More Than 2 FuelRods

One problem we’ve recently discovered is that there’s a limit to how many FuelRods you can pass through security with. Here at DFB, our reporters love using these chargers because they can be swapped at kiosks around the park (so you always have a fully charged version!). However, if you’re carrying more than two in your bag at a time, you might run into a problem.

Fuel Rod Station in PizzeRizzo

This is probably a niche issue, because it’s pretty wild to own three FuelRods in the first place (we like to live on the wild side!), but just be warned in case you’ve got enough of these for your whole family. Two is fine, three will set off the alarm.

Tins of Mints

Another issue we’ve found recently is with tins of mints! If you have a small metal box filled with mints or other necessities, it might cause you some problems. We bought some Disney100 mints on sale a few weeks ago and kept getting stopped at security after that.

100th Anniversary Mints

So what do we do when we have mints in our bags then? (Say it all together!) We take them out and hold them in front of us when we walk through the scanner. Good job!

Metal Water Bottles

Last but not least, let’s talk about metal water bottles! This one is really a hit or miss, but some metal water bottles will cause problems, depending on their size and what type of metal they’re made out of.

Minnie Water bottle

You’re totally allowed to bring your own water bottle to the parks, though! Don’t forget to pack one so you can stay hydrated all day long.

Darth Vader bottle

So there you go — our advice for making security a little bit easier during your next trip! We’ll keep you in the loop with any more park tips we learn during our visits. Stay tuned to DFB!

Why 12 Random Dates Could be Critical for the Future of Disney World

What do these 12, seemingly random, upcoming dates have in common?

Magic Kingdom

Last year, the former Reedy Creek Improvement District became the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District after Governor Ron Desantis’ state takeover. The District is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, who are all appointed by the Governor. Since taking over the District, the Board of Supervisors has made a number of decisions with major impacts on Disney’s operations.

After the dissolution of the Reedy Creek Improvement District in 2023, Disney has been engaged in multiple battles with the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

Disney World entrance

Since taking over, the Board of Supervisors has made some controversial decisions like eliminating Disney World Annual Pass benefits for employees of the District, floating potential changes to infrastructure in the area, and more, sparking numerous legal battles between the District and Disney.

Spaceship Earth

The Board of Supervisors meets roughly once a month to make decisions on aspects of administration that range from infrastructure financing to growth management. And the decisions made at these meetings can have major impacts on Disney World’s operations within the District.

Hollywood Studios

In addition to a previously held meeting on January 24th, the Board of Supervisors has 12 more meetings scheduled for 2024:

  • February 28
  • March 27
  • April 24
  • May 22
  • June 26
  • July 24
  • August 28
  • September 11
  • September 25
  • October 23
  • November 20
  • December 18

Between the way previous meetings have played out and the wide-ranging administrative decisions determined by the board, these dates could end up having a critical impact on Disney World’s operations.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We’ll keep a close eye out for any news to come out of the Board of Supervisor meetings, so stay tuned to DFB for more updates on potential impacts on Disney World.

What’s REALLY Changing at Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom

It’s the end of an era in Magic Kingdom!

Country Bear Jamboree

Country Bear Jamboree was one of the opening day attractions at Magic Kingdom, opening alongside the park on October 1st, 1971. Last year, Disney announced that the attraction would be closing to make room for a new, updated version of the show. The original Country Bear Jamboree gave its final performances on January 26th, 2024. And now that it’s officially closed, let’s take a look at what’s REALLY changing with the classic attraction.

The new version of Country Bear Jamboree is set to debut in Summer 2024. While we don’t know exactly what the refreshed show will look like yet, let’s dive into the changes that Disney has confirmed so far!

Country Bear Jamboree

First, and foremost, the name of the show is receiving a slight tweak to go along with the new version. Instead of Country Bear Jamboree, the new version will be called Country Bear Musical Jamboree.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree Coming Summer 2024!

The show will be a take on classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee, and Nashville musicians are involved in the new arrangements. The bears will perform their songs in new styles like country, rockabilly, and bluegrass.

Country Bear Jamboree

It hasn’t yet been confirmed if the full versions of any fan-favorite songs from the original show will return, but Disney has said it, “will include easter eggs from the beginning to the end including a familiar tune fans may remember.”

Country Bears

But on the topic of songs, it HAS been confirmed that the new show will feature classic Disney songs performed in country, rockabilly, and bluegrass styles. Disney shared a behind-the-scenes clip of “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book, so that’s a hint for one song that we might see the bears perform! That’s the only clue we’ve seen so far, so no word yet on what other Disney songs might appear.

Country Bear Jamboree

Fitting with the updated style, the bears will also get a refreshed wardrobe of new outfits. Disney shared this sneak peek at Henry’s new look, for an idea of the direction the styling might go!

Disney also confirmed that the bear originally named “Liver Lips McGrowl” is getting a new name — Romeo McGrowl.

His Name is Being Changed to Romeo McGrowl!

This change is also reflected on the posters for Country Bear Musical Jamboree.

Now that the show has officially closed, we’ll keep a close eye out for any updates as changes are made for the new version coming this summer. Stay tuned to DFB for more news from Frontierland and beyond!
