Disney World’s Haunted Mansion probably lands in our Top 5 Comfort Rides. It’s not weird at all that a ride about murder and ghosts and dead people and failed marriages is comforting to us. We don’t have to talk about it. Anyway, since this is our comfort ride, we ride it like, all the time. Today, we were moving right along in our Doom Buggy when we noticed that a travesty has occurred.
One of the iconic scenes in the Haunted Mansion ride is the Endless Hallway. Here, you’ll find a super cool optical illusion that makes the hallway seem like it’s stretching on and on and on forever and ever. At the end of the hallway, you’ll see a floating candelabra. Spooky, huh?
Endless Hallway
Well, not so spooky anymore! An endless hallway is one thousand times less spooky when you’re not seeing a floating object that hints at the fact that ghosts are present. That’s right, goblins and ghouls. The candelabra has gone MISSING.
Over at the Haunted Mansion, the floating candelabra is MISSING from the endless hallway! pic.twitter.com/sCkjZek9NH
It could be entirely possible that the candelabra was removed so as not to distract from the Hatbox Ghost scene, but it’s equally possible that it was just briefly removed for maintenance. Sometimes things don’t work as they should inside the rides, and Disney would rather remove it entirely until it’s fixed — as opposed to leaving a broken element of the ride for all to see. We’ll have to keep an eye out to see whether or not the candelabra returns!

That’s when reservations officially open for the NEW Fantasy Springs Hotel located INSIDE Disney’s major theme park expansion: Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. Disney has now announced the PRICING for this hotel, so if you’re planning to visit soon (or just want to know what these luxurious rooms will cost), check out these numbers!
The Fantasy Springs Hotel is actually made up of two different hotels: the Grand Chateau and the Fantasy Chateau.
The Grand Chateau is “a luxury type,” and the Fantasy is “a deluxe type.” If you want to book the Fantasy Chateau, rooms start at 63,500 yen, which is $429.94 in USD. Grand Chateau rooms start at 300,000 yen, which is $2,031.23 USD. Depending on the room type and view that you book within each building, that price could be higher.
If you want to book reservations for a stay between June 6th and the 23rd, you can book starting on February 8th. For dates past June 23rd, bookings open on March 3rd.
After the hotel’s inaugural reservation period, you’ll be able to book up to four months before your travel dates on the Tokyo DisneySea Website. Here’s a chart showing when you can book:
As we mentioned before, the Fantasy Springs Hotel is located INSIDE Fantasy Springs. Guests at this hotel get to go inside the theme park via their own exclusive entrance.
If you’re staying at the Fantasy Springs Hotel, you can purchase the One-Day Passport: Fantasy Springs Magic to “enjoy Fantasy Springs to the fullest.” Disney’s website says that “this ticket allows guests to enjoy the attractions at Fantasy Springs without specifying a time in advance, and with a reduced wait time.”
Sharon M. Draper’s best-selling novel Out of My Mind is now a Disney Original Movie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will be coming to Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year. Following a Sundance screening I attended, director Amber Sealey and star Phoebe-Rae Taylor participated in an audience question and answer session, which offered a look […]
We found the Magic Kingdom espresso mug ornament in the Emporium. The EPCOT espresso mug ornament was in Connections Café, while the Disney’s Animal Kingdom espresso mug was at Creature Comforts — the Starbucks locations of the respective parks.
The tiny espresso mug is white and comes with a blue ribbon attached to the handle. On one side, it features a colorful pastel image of the Dapper Dans. Around them are music notes and some “it’s a small world”-inspired flowers.
On the other side is Cinderella Castle, a black Mickey ear hat, Tinker Bell, Dumbo, and a firework. They’re in a ring around a yellow circle with “Magic Kingdom” in blue across the middle.
The interior is dark blue with “Starbucks” printed on the rim in white lettering.
The mugs and ornaments come in Starbucks Discovery Series-branded boxes. They can easily be used to display the mugs and feature silhouettes of Disney characters and iconography.
EPCOT Espresso Mug Ornament – $19.99
The EPCOT mug has a purple, orange, and teal color scheme. It has a lilac-purple ribbon on the handle. The EPCOT logo and wordmark are on one side, across a teal circle, with Figment the dragon in one corner and Spaceship Earth on the other side. Also pictured are flowers, fireworks, clouds, and a Soarin’ hang glider.
Remy from “Ratatouille” is on the other side. He holds a large shaker, which he’s using to season a croissant on a plate with a fork.
The inside of the mug is light purple. “Starbucks” is printed in white.
The Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a green, orange, yellow, and light blue color scheme. It includes a light green ribbon. On the front is Mt. Everest, a Kilimanjaro Safaris truck, the Tree of Life, and “Finding Nemo” characters around the Disney’s Animal Kingdom wordmark.
On the other side are some of the floating mountains of Pandora – The World of “Avatar.” A banshee, a.k.a. ikran, flies through the mountains and clouds float by.
The inside is neon green with “Starbucks” printed near the rim.
Yesterday saw the release of issue #2 in Dark Horse Comics’ Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Phase III, and below are my brief recap and thoughts on this installment. In my review of the middle-grade novel Star Wars: The High Republic – Escape from Valo earlier this week, I talked about how author Daniel José Older’s […]
Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! We’ve made our way all around the park to share FULL booth reviews and photos of the new and returning snacks. And now we’ve rounded up our list of MUST eats (and drinks) so you don’t miss a thing.
Just a note that the Lunar New Year celebration only runs from January 23rd through February 18th, 2024, so don’t wait too long to visit Disneyland Resort or you’ll miss out on all the fun!
Alright, now let’s dive into the very BEST snacks and drinks this festival has to offer!
NEW BESTS
In this category, we’ll share our picks for the very best NEW items that have arrived at the festival this year.
BBQ Pork Bun at Prosperity Bao & Buns
It’s hard to beat fluffy buns packed with protein — and that’s why the BBQ Pork Bun has made our list. This features kimchi mayo and garlic chile crunch. You can grab one of these for $9.
BBQ Pork Bun
We describe this as a spicy little ball of deliciousness! The Kimchi Mayo is really what ties this whole dish together. The meat is super tender and the bao bun is, again, so soft. We give this one a 10/10 as long as you don’t mind spice!
Stereo Brewing Co. Jasmine Tea Lager at Prosperity Bao & Buns
We grabbed the beer flight here, but one stood out to us the most. The Stereo Brewing Co. Jasmine TeaLager was next and this one was our reporter’s favorite!
Dragon Beer Flight
The jasmine tea really shines in this drink, making it so incredibly refreshing — great for a hot day.
Over at Longevity Noodle Co., we are singing the praises of the Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles! These bad boys could be all yours for $9. These are pan-fried lo mein noodles with sautéed shrimp garnished with green onions.
Shrimp Lo Mein
Our first impression of this dish was that it has some GREAT spice. It isn’t too spicy, though, and it pairs well with the salty taste of the sauce. Oh, and that shrimp? It’s cooked to perfection and each piece is perfectly covered in seasoning. We’d recommend this to anyone who loves a classic lo mein dish that doesn’t mind a tiny hint of spice.
The brand-new Yuja-Pineapple Cooler is made with Pineapple juice, yuja purée, rice milk, and condensed milk garnished with cherry and coconut foam, and it’s priced at $7.00.
Yuja-Pineapple Cooler
We were surprised by how much we liked this! This drink was very sweet, tropical, and refreshing! We LOVED it and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage. It’s also a great dessert drink!
This category is full of items that aren’t new to the festival but instead are returning favorites you do NOT want to miss.
Raspberry Oat Milk Tea at Wrapped With Love
Though this drink has changed locations (last year it was at Longevity Noodle Co.) it is no less delicious! What we especially like is that the drink is a non-alcoholic one, so everyone can enjoy it. The Raspberry Oat Milk Tea is made of Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Ceylon Tea, raspberry and demerara syrups, and oat milk. It is garnished with skewered raspberries.
Raspberry Oat Milk Tea 2023
Last year we thought this drink was delicious! It was sweet but not overly so, and we absolutely loved that raspberry garnish which added a level of freshness. Try it for yourself for $6.50. We’re happy to report it’s just as good as we remember! Sweet (but not too sweet) and the raspberry garnish is a winner. This is another great non-alcoholic option for anyone looking for a refreshing but dessert-like drink.
Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites at Red Dragon Spice Traders
If you’re looking for something that’ll bring the HEAT, stop by Red Dragon Spice Traders for the returning Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites. These are fried chicken chicharrones in spicy red chile sauce, and they’re priced at $8.75.
This dish was a WINNER in our book again this year! It’s got a good kick to it, without the spice getting out of control. It did make our noses run a bit though, so watch out for that! It was nice and crispy with great flavor and was a decent-sized portion.
Mickey Mouse-Shaped Hot Dog Bun at Bamboo Blessings
This snack might seem basic but it’s a staple of the festival, iconic to this celebration, and absolutely a MUST-GET. The returning Mickey-shaped Hot Dog Bun is made of a brioche-style Mickey-shaped bun stuffed with hot dog and finished with sesame seeds and scallions. It is priced at $7.50.
Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun
This really is a fun and tasty spin on a classic theme park eat. Just be warned — the quality of the bun can vary here. Some years the bun has been REALLY good. But in 2023, we found it to be quite dry.
This year, we thought the hot dog bun tasted even BETTER! It was soft and warm, yet thick and flaky all at once. Our hot dog was juicy and flavorful, too. In terms of flavor, we’re not saying this is groundbreaking, but it’s a simple, warm, savory dish we keep coming back to every year. It’s a win!

There are a TON of things that can make or break your Disney World trip, right?!
Thanks, Pluto!
Things like meeting your favorite Disney characters or getting to ride that exciting ride can make the trip feel totally worth it, while things like closures and unexpected weather events can leave you feeling like you’re holding the bag. Have you ever thought that maybe your phone could improve your vacation? Well, let’s talk about it!
Sorry Android users, this one’s all about iPhone today. Let’s talk about some of the ways your iPhone can improve your next Disney World vacation!
Since we love all things glittery and new, let’s go over a new app that’s been added to your iPhone that can really be handy when you’re on vacation. We’re talking about the new app “Journal”.
Journal was designed by Apple to be a private space for you to record your thoughts and impressions, and we can see how it can be quite an effective tool for documenting your trips.
There are a number of ways in the app for you to fully capture the moment when you’re creating a new entry. It starts as a blank slate. You can jot any and all thoughts that come to mind, you can add photos and videos to enhance those words, and you can even make an audio recording of those sounds around you. This feature alone could be perfect for capturing the iconic “it’s a small world” song in all its glory as you ride it for the 5th time for the day.
But, if that’s looking a bit too tedious, Apple’s already thought about you. The phone can pull together data from your recent activities, photos, workouts, etc., and gives you suggestions to write about. It’s a very well-thought-out app. It’s also got privacy in mind, so if you want it locked up like your diaries of old, you can totally do that.
Now we know you have that big, fancy camera at home, but honestly, nowadays, your iPhone is all you’re going to need besides the fact that you will most likely always have it with you at all times.
Lemon and Cotton Candy
No sense trying to mess with settings like F-stops and ISO when you’re trying to take that perfect dole whip picture. You’ve just got to capture it before it melts all the way down your arm.
Portrait Mode
Speaking of trying to take pictures of your food, because we’re pretty positive that we’re going to take pictures of everything we eat at Disney World, if you haven’t already used Portrait Mode, you need to experience it! Jump on the bandwagon!
Dole Whip Cupcake
That is what is going to make your background be nice and blurry while your food is nice and crisp! That’s where you want everyone’s focus anyway.
The Grid
Now we know you’re excited about getting into the TRON grid, but that’s not what we’re talking about. A great way for you to elevate your photo game is to enable the in camera grid!
@The Sweet Setup
This way you’ll be able to arrange your pictures perfectly. You can finally say goodbye to all those crooked shots you have to adjust.
Last up, let’s talk about some other iPhone tips.
Reminders
When you’re at Disney World, reminders can be your best friend! (Maybe even more useful than Genie)
You’ve got a lot of reservations you might be making for restaurants or virtual queue reservations, and some of those are time-sensitive, so if you don’t want to miss out on when the queue opens or when you have to leave the resort, put that info down in a reminder and you’ll be all set!
Disney MagicMobile Pass
Want to ditch your pass and still get into the parks? You can totally do that!
You can add a Disney MagicMobile Pass to the Wallet app. Then, use your iPhone or Apple Watch to enter the parks.
Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle
Those are just a couple of ways your iPhone can make your next trip just that much better. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB. We’ll be watching for more updates on all the latest Disney news.

NEW COFFEE ALERT. You’ve had your Starbucks drink, your Joffrey’s Coffee, and maybe even some other specialty coffees in the Disney parks but now something NEW has arrived.
Pym Test Kitchen
To find this special creation, you’ll need to visit Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort between January 23rd and February 18th, 2024. That’s the time when the park will be celebrating the Lunar New Year with new snacks, unique characters, and more. One of the Festival’s special offerings is a NEW coffee drink that’s tucked away at Pym Test Kitchen in Avengers Campus. Will it be your new must-get coffee in the park?
Menu
Pym Test Kitchen is a Quick Service restaurant with some popular and unique eats that might just have strange proportions due to some interactions with Pym particles! For the purposes of the Lunar New Year Festival, however, there’s one additional menu item available here — the Almond Cold Brew!
Here is a look at the menu!
Let’s find out if this is something you’ll have to snag!
Review
The NEW Almond Cold Brew at Pym’s Test Kitchen is a non-alcoholic beverage made with almond cold brew, almond milk, and red foam with blue and gold sugar. It is priced at $6.79.
Let’s try it!
When it comes to looks, this drink certainly is something! That red foam topped with blue and gold sugar almost makes it look like the result of a science experiment, which totally fits with the theme of this place. So, what’s the deal in terms of taste?
Look at that foam and sugar!
We thought that this cold brew was pretty sweet when we first tasted it. It has a small hint of almond to it, so when you’re drinking it it still feels like you’re having a cold brew. It is a perfect blend between the two flavors, and we’re kind of obsessed with it. One thing we did notice was how much food coloring was used in this foam! Drinkers beware, because this stuff STAINS! Of course, that can always be remedied by using a straw — and a little red food coloring has never stopped us from enjoying an otherwise delicious coffee before.
Pym Test Kitchen
This may be one of the best cold brews we have found at Disneyland! It’s been hard for us to find cold brews we really LOVE at Disneyland, so we’re glad that they are finally stepping up their game.
