Full Look Inside the 2024 Lunar New Year Tasting Passport at Disney California Adventure

The 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration has arrived at Disney California Adventure, and we’re giving you a complete look at the event’s tasting passport.

2024 Lunar New Year Tasting Passport

A reporter holds up the 2024 Lunar New Year Tasting Passport.

The front of the passport is a deep red — a color often used in Lunar New Year celebrations, as it symbolizes good fortune. The center has a dragon to represent 2024 as the Year of the Dragon. There’s a small Hidden Mickey within the dragon.

The top reads “Lunar New Year” and “Disney California Adventure Park.” Beneath the dragon reads “2024 Tasting Passport,” with three lanterns hanging from the banner, and the bottom lists the event dates, “January 23 – February 18, 2024.” The back has the same design, sans any of the writing.

A look inside the first page of the booklet.

The first page of the passport starts with a section to write your name, followed by a welcome message for the festival, which gives guests details on what they can expect throughout the event. Next is an explainer for the passport’s Stamp of Completion section. Guests can collect seven stamps from kiosks around the festival, and then gain their Stamp of Completion at the Festival Merchandise Location near The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.

A spread of the booklet detailing the Sip and Savor Pass.

Flipping the page, you’ll see everything you need to know about the Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass. The left page breaks down the details about purchasing the pass, and the right page has a photo of the pass and information on how to order items using it.

A spread detailing food and beverage offerings for Lunar New Year.

As you turn to page six, you’ll start to get a look at the festival booths and their offerings without prices. Vegetarian items are marked with a blue V, Sip and Savor Pass-eligible items are marked with a crossed fork and spoon, and plant-based items are marked with two leaves.

Another spread listing food and beverage options.

Many of the pages have photos of food and beverages that can be found in the booths. The pages also have New Year Stamp spots for each marketplace.

A spread showing off offerings from Lucky 8 Lantern and Longevity Noodle Co.

The designs from the front of the passport, including the dragon design and Lunar New Year decorations, continue throughout the passport.

A spread listing the participating locations offering specialty items other than the festival marketplaces.

In addition to the festival marketplaces, participating locations that are serving specialty items for the festival are listed.

A section of the booklet detailing the event churro offerings.

There is a full page dedicated to the festival churros that can be found at various locations throughout Disney California Adventure.

The tasting passport's index.

The index lists all of the vegetarian and plant-based options, followed by information about Lunar New Year offerings that can be found at the Disneyland Resort hotels and Downtown Disney District.

The next page details the locations where guests can find festival merchandise and seasonal merchandise and experiences.

A map of 2024 Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure.

Finally, the last spread of the passport gives you a full map of the Lunar New Year event, with locations marked for the marketplaces, participating locations, festival entertainment, and character experiences — including the Meilin and Ming Lee meet and greet and Mulan’s Lunar New Year Processional. The key also has symbols for a variety of offerings around the park, including Chinese Calligraphy Artists, Lunar New Year Wishing Wall, and Festival Crafts.

“Remain Seated Inside Your Boat!” Woman Wades in ‘it’s a small world’ Water, Pulls Four Children Out of Boat at Disneyland Paris During Unexpected Downtime

TikTok user georgiataylor2199 recently shared footage of a woman and four children disembarking “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Paris during an unexpected stoppage of the ride, despite Cast Members asking that guests remain seated.

Woman Evacuates Group from ‘it’s a small world’ at Disneyland Paris Despite Cast Member Protests

A woman is shown wading into the water at "it's a small world" in Disneyland Paris.

The video begins showing a woman already in the water of the finale scene in “it’s a small world,” having taken off her shoes and deposited her belongings on the section of set to her right.

The woman pulls out a small child, from the boat to the set.

The woman stands in the water, pants rolled up to her knees, and encourages the four children with her to step onto the side of the boat so she can lift them out and over to the other side.

The woman holds the other child back, as she prepares to lift a third child from the boat.

As she lifts out the first two children, an overhead announcement can be heard in French and English, asking that guests “please remain seated” while the attraction is “temporarily interrupted.”

Guests are required to remain in ride vehicles when attractions are stopped for any reason for their safety. They should never leave the vehicle without a Cast Member present, as they are trained on safe and appropriate evacuation methods. Not only are there legitimate safety concerns, such as being barefoot in the middle of a water-based ride with electrical components and other unseen obstacles in the water, but an unauthorized evacuation could also lead to damage to the ride and its scenery.

The woman gathers her belongings and leads the four children away from the ride path.

A Cast Member then takes to the mic and speaks in French and English, telling guests to remain in the boat. The woman responds, but it is difficult to understand what she is saying.

The woman continues her own evacuation and wades further down the boat to get the final two children out. Once all four children are removed from the boat, the woman gets back up onto the set, grabs her belongings and shoes, and leads the group barefoot around the finale scene of the attraction, seemingly toward an exit.

The group walks through the "it's a small world" set to find an exit.

At this point, the Cast Member on the overhead speaker can be heard speaking loudly to the group, and two of the children run back onto the set, seemingly confused about where to go. It is here where the video ends.

You can watch the TikTok in full for yourself below:

A guest handling their own ride evacuation is just the latest guest incident to take place at Disney Parks. Just last week, an unattended child pushed a Stormtrooper and tried to take their blaster in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Last month, one guest yelled at another in a Disneyland Resort bathroom for speaking Spanish; Disneyland security reportedly dismissed the victim’s concerns. Back at Walt Disney World, a man verbally accosted guests after cutting the line and accused other guests of using racial slurs. In May 2023, an angry guest slapped a tablet out of a Cast Member’s hands at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT, which caused the tablet to hit her rib cage and sent her to the hospital.

PHOTOS, VIDEO: ‘Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession’ Returns for 2024 with Mushu for Year of the Dragon at Disney California Adventure

The 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration has begun at Disney California Adventure, and with it returns Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession! As this year is the Year of the Dragon, Mushu takes a starring role in the parade.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession

Two performers carry the Lunar New Year banner.

Throughout the procession, a narrator describes the connection between Mulan, each passing unit of performers, and the Lunar New Year. The banner carriers that begin the procession received new costumes this year, with purple and black outfits instead of yellow and blue.

A trio of moonflower dancers pass by guests.

Next, a trio of dancers dressed to resemble moonflowers swirl and twirl by.

A group of dragon dancers carry a large dragon puppet.

Behind them is a team of dragon dancers, who carry a large blue and gold dragon puppet above their heads.

More dancers walk along the procession path for Lunar New Year.

Then, a team of dancers dressed in shades of blue and pink perform with rainbow-colored scarves. Normally, following this unit are parade trikes, which have been cut from the procession this year.

Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession also includes a group of martial arts performers.

A team of martial arts performers follows behind. Last year, there were also flag twirlers, but this year they moved to after the main float.

More moonflower dancers pass by.

Another pair of moonflower dancers lead the float.

A float carrying Mulan and Mushu finally makes its entrance.

Mulan and Mushu are the stars of the show with the Lunar New Year float. Last year, a trio of drummers stood on the center platform; those performers have been cut, with Mushu taking their place.

Filling in for Mushu’s former spot is a statue of Cri-kee, the cricket character from the animated film.

Mushu waves hi to the crowd as the float passes.

Mushu couldn’t help but give us a wave as the float passed by.

Chip stands proudly on the back of the parade float.

Last year’s float saw Goofy in this spot, who has since been replaced with Chip. Dale follows on the ground not far behind.

Flag twirlers lead a group of fan dancers.

Following the float are the flag twirlers we mentioned before.

The fan dancers swirl along the procession route.

Behind them are dancers clad in pink and blue gowns, twirling with pink and white fans.

Even more moonflower dancers arrive to close out the performance.

More moonflower dancers also join in on the fun.

Parasol dancers bring Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession to a close.

The final unit is a group of dancers with parasols, ready to meet the matchmaker.

Sip and Savor Pass for 2024 Lunar New Year Returns to Disney California Adventure with New Scannable Option

Those looking to get a taste of a variety of options at the 2024 Lunar New Year celebration at Disney California Adventure have the option to purchase the Sip and Savor Pass. This year’s pass is available in two versions, with one being a scannable pass versus the traditional attached coupons.

2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass

A sign detailing information about the Sip and Savor Pass.

Available to purchase at the Sip and Savor cart, Elias & Co., Julius Katz & Sons, Rushin’ River Outfitters, Seaside Souvenirs, and Festival Merchandise, the Sip and Savor Pass gives guests the chance to redeem six coupons at kiosks around the festival for select food and nonalcoholic beverage options.

The pass can come in handy, as instead of purchasing each individual item, guests can purchase the pass once, and then use it throughout the festival.

The front of the 2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass.

As this is the Year of the Dragon, the front of this year’s pass features Mushu from the 1998 animated film, “Mulan.” The Sip and Savor pass costs $46 for regular guests and $43 for Magic Key holders.

The pass is ideal for guests who intend on trying some offerings that are on the pricier side — you may even want to do the math to make sure that the items you hope to try will collectively hit the $46 or $43 mark.

The back of the 2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass.

This year, festival-goers have two pass options: The traditional pass with attached coupons that pull off, and a new, scannable pass with digital coupons.

If you purchase the traditional coupon pass, you’ll present the pass to the Cast Member working at the food or beverage location and they’ll remove the tab when you make your selection. If you purchase the new scannable option, a Cast Member will scan the back of your pass, as shown above. Then you’ll enter a 4-digit code found on your pass at checkout. Your receipt will display your remaining number of coupons.

The Sip and Savor pass can be redeemed at the following locations. Disneyland notes that these offerings are for “tasting-size portions only, not full entrees.”:

Lunar New Year Marketplaces

  • Longevity Noodle Co.
  • Lucky 8 Lantern

We Just Found a Free Dining HACK in Disney World!

What’s better than Disney World FOOD?

Coffee Tequilla Sundae

FREE Disney World food, of course! Disney World is offering its Disney Dining Plan for FREE with certain hotel stays, and we’ve just found a hack for this discount. But don’t worry — we’re not gatekeeping! We’re gonna share it with you right now!

First up, if you’re not familiar with the Disney Dining Plan, it is a plan you can package with a Disney World hotel stay and park tickets that essentially allows you to pre-pay for the meals you’ll eat on vacation. There are two tiers of plans available — one that provides meals at Disney World quick-service restaurants and snacks, and one that allows meals at both table-service and quick-service restaurants, as well as snacks. We’ve got a complete list of the restaurants that accept the dining plan — click the link below to get it!

Is the dining plan a good deal? Our very best answer to that is … it depends. If you’re interested in truly getting your money’s worth out of the dining plan, that’s going to require some research. If you’re after a way to budget and turn your vacation into an “all-inclusive” one, the Dining Plan can give you that feel. But we CAN tell you about a situation where the Disney Dining Plan is an AMAZING deal — when it’s FREE!

Breakfast at Garden Grill

The current free dining offer at Disney World is for Disney+ subscribers. Disney+ subscribers can now get the Disney Dining Plan for FREE on select dates when they purchase a non-discounted 4-night, 4-day Walt Disney Travel Company package. This package must include a room at a select Disney hotel and Park Hopper theme park ticket. This deal is available for trips most nights from July 1st to September 30th, 2024. But that’s where our HACK comes in!

‘Ohana Bread Pudding!

A member of our DFB Team wanted to take advantage of this deal, but really wanted to travel in early October. They were able to book this free dining deal for their entire trip in early October by checking in on September 30th! So keep this in mind if your dates don’t exactly line up with this promotion!

Chips and queso at Three Bridges

Now, we still need to talk about VALUE here. In case you didn’t notice, you need to pay full price for a Disney World hotel and buy park hopper tickets to get a free dining package. There are also discounted hotel rates, and depending on where you want to stay and what you want out of your trip — you might get a better deal WITHOUT the free dining. How do you figure out what’s best for you? The best advice we can give you is to enlist expert help from a travel agent who specializes in Disney. Their services cost you nothing, and they can run all the numbers and tell you what’s going to work best for your individual situation! We recommend contacting our friends at Small World Vacations before you book!
