A new permit has been filed in regards to construction at the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Processed on January 25 by an engineering manager for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the permit is for “general construction” by Sunstate Awning & Graphic Design, Inc., a custom awning company located in nearby Sanford, FL.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was a 2-night immersive experience that closed permanently in September 2023, after only operating for about a year and a half. The experience was highly praised by guests, but faced numerous struggles with marketing, poor public perception, pricing, and more.
Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said “something will happen” with the future of the Starcruiser, but gave no details. A survey was distributed to select guests among the final voyages, evaluating aspects of the experience and leading to rumors of a resurrection (in one form or another).
Reports indicate that the Galactic Starcruiser never made a profit and had consistently lower occupancy rates than expected, leading to the closure.
