Set for a late 2024 completion, the Downtown Disney District reimagining at Disneyland Resort is well on its way. Let’s see just how far along the project is given we are just a few months away from completion now.
Paseo and Centrico
First up is the future home of Paseo and Centrico, a new Mexican restaurant that will take the place of Catal Restaurant and the adjacent, outdoor Uva Bar.
The interior of the second floor of the former Catal restaurant has been entirely gutted to make way for Paseo’s radically different interior.
The former Uva Bar area has a new round wood and steel structure that has been teased on the construction walls for some time.
The second floor balcony seating area is covered in tarp as construction continues.
Star Wars Trading Post Area
In front of Star Wars Trading Post, the plaza is obscured by a number of construction fences.
The fencing obscures the entrance area of the store.
There is a sign letting guests know that Star Wars Trading Post is open during the construction work, you just have to take a walk around the fencing.
Though a lot of the concrete work seems to be happening behind the fences, we did spot an area with some less-than-show-ready concrete.
Temporary Earl of Sandwich
To the left of Star Wars Trading Post, the temporary popup location for Earl Of Sandwich is taking shape. Earl is moving out of its current temporary location to make way for Porto’s Bakery & Eatery.
Walls Around Downtown Disney Sign
Construction walls continue around the former temporary WonderGround Gallery location and the Downtown Disney arch.
The sign still uses the Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration color scheme, as it has since 2015.
Further down, the walkway to the security has been partially repaved, and the construction wall that was once in place has been moved.
Stage and Lawn Area on West End
Moving to the West End of the Downtown Disney District, much of the stage and lawn area is already open as construction continues behind it.
Guests can make use of the seating and covered dining areas in the midst of the reimagining.
Din Tai Fung
Finally, not much has changed at the future site of Din Tai Fung since our last visit in early December. The establishment is a world-renowned Chinese restaurant known for its soup dumplings and noodles.
The Downtown Disney update will see a new mid-century, space age style reminiscent of what guests would have experienced when Disneyland opened in 1951. In addition to a style change, the district will also get a number of new dining options. Read more about the reimagining, here.
