The floating candelabra has been removed from the Endless Hallway scene of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom but is set to return.
Floating Candelabra Missing
The candelabra usually appears to float by itself at the far end of the Endless Hallway. The scene is near the beginning of the ride before guests reach Madame Leota’s seance room. The Hatbox Ghost was installed beside the Endless Hallway in November.
The floating candelabra was also missing from Hatbox Ghost concept art released before the new audio-animatronic was installed, sparking speculation it would be removed. However, the floating candelabra was still present when the Hatbox Ghost materialized.
Cast Members told us the floating candelabra will return, but we don’t know when. Compare the photo above, taken on January 23, 2024, to the one below taken when the Hatbox Ghost was unveiled on November 30, 2023.
The floating candelabra is just barely visible floating in the hallway to the right. You can also see it floating in our brightened photo of the Hatbox Ghost below.
The Hatbox Ghost is the biggest update to The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom recently, but there have been other minor changes, too. The Candleman originally designed by Rolly Crump for the Museum of the Weird at Disneyland was recently added to The Haunted Mansion. One of the ride’s “Donald Duck” chairs, also inspired by a Museum of the Weird piece, was removed to make way for the Hatbox Ghost. The remaining chair is in the library scene. Madame Leota also got an updated hairstyle last summer.
The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is currently closed for a major expansion of the grounds including gardens, a gazebo, a greenhouse, and a carriage house gift shop. It’s expected to reopen for the 2024 holiday season with the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay before the standard version of the attraction returns in 2025.
