The Shaman of Songs appears to have suffered a new wound as guests have shared a look at the gaping hole in her neck on Na’vi River Journey where the audio-animatronic’s “skin” has ripped. WDWNT Reader Jesse noticed the recent damage on a recent visit, and provided a brief video.
Gaping Hole in Shaman of Songs’s Neck
The Shaman of Songs, the most-advanced audio-animatronic at the time of its construction, periodically sees down time when the intricate audio-animatronic is not functioning properly. Usually, the audio-animatronic is removed and a large video screen with the Shaman of Songs takes her place.
This is not the first time that the Shaman has been malfunctioning lately. Her head was bent backwards this past summer. Clearly, the skin is extremely flexible as this tear did not occur at that time. In January of 2021, another malfunction occurred and she appeared to fall asleep.

Other Recent Audio-Animatronic Failures
The gaping hole in the Shaman of Songs is not the first physical problem with audio-animatronics at Walt Disney World lately. With such complicated technology and physical robotics, these types of problems happen from time to time. We’ve recently seen Doc’s face go blank on Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and a similar projection problem with Anna and Elsa on Frozen Ever After at EPCOT. We’ve also seen Sonny Eclipse leak fluid and collapse on his keyboard in a plume of smoke at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. In one of the scenes on Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Dopey ripped off Snow White’s arm. And, over at the American Adventure pavilion, Mark Twain performed with his head twisted around backward, including smoking his cigar out of his neck.
