Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to tons of different snacks and meals that we just can’t get enough of.
However, this is Disney, which means that things change ALL the time. We keep our eyes peeled for all the latest new snacks to enter the park, and we don’t have one to share with you today — we have THREE!
Over in Animal Kingdom you can head to Restaurantosaurus for not one, but TWO new snacks. The first is the Dragonfly Cupcake for $6.49. This is lemon cake with raspberry mousse filling, vanilla frosting, and a chocolate dragon fly piece.
We will admit that this one did let us down in the looks department, especially when compared to the reference photo. With the way it was packaged, part of the look was ruined as soon as we unwrapped it. However, this was one on the best tasting cupcakes we’ve had in a while!
The lemon cake was moist with a real lemon flavor and the raspberry mousse inside was dense and rich with berry flavors. The frosting is your standard vanilla buttercream, which we enjoyed. If you’re looking for a lemon-flavored treat, don’t hesitate to get this, but if you’re looking for something for the ‘gram, this may not be your best bet.
We also grabbed the S’moresosaurus Shake for $8.49. This is a vanilla milkshake with chocolate and caramel drizzle in the cup. It’s topped with two lightly toasted marshmallows, a chocolate-dipped s’more, graham cracker crumbs, and whipped cream. The cup is rimmed with more chocolate sauce and graham cracker crumbs. It’s multiple treats in one!
The marshmallows were very lightly toasted and fun to pick off the top and eat. The chocolate-dipped s’more was marshmallow sandwiched between two graham crackers, with the whole thing covered in chocolate. This was BIG and a rich treat all on its own. Delicious! It was decorated with a white chocolate dino piece.
As for the shake, this was a pretty standard vanilla shake — good, but not necessarily a standout on its own. But here’s the thing — while we were enjoying the treats on the top of this shake, the caramel and chocolate swirl in the cup slid down into the shake and when we stirred, it was a whole new experience. We loved this treat! If you aren’t looking for something BIG for dessert or a snack, this might be overwhelming for you, but otherwise, give it a try!
Lastly, we went to Terra Treats and grabbed the S’mores Dessert Pizza for $6.49. This is pizza dough with browned butter and brown sugar baked into it, topped with crumbled graham crackers, toasted marshmallows and chocolate sauce.
If you shy away from Disney World pizza, know that this isn’t the “puffy pizza” variety. The crust here has the right amount of chew, and we were surprised at just how much flavor the browned butter and brown sugar imparts. The whole thing is drizzled in plenty of chocolate sauce — enough to get some in every bite but not so much to make it messy to eat, which was a concern when we were ordering. This is just the way a dessert pizza should be — sweet, but not so sweet that you don’t get a little savory contrast with the dough.
We had multiple people ask us where we got it from! This slice was rectangular and as big as our hand — it’s an easily shareable treat and for $6.79, that’s a good deal in Disney World. Marshmallows are dominant on the top of this pizza, so if you’re not a fan you might want to skip this.
We’re not sure how long these treats will be around, so grab them while you can! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!
Here’s why you should always buy the Individual Lightning Lane for this Animal Kingdom ride!
