When a booth is named āGourmet Landscapesā you might go in with some high gourmet food expectations, right? But can this Festival booth DELIVER on that promise of a āgourmetā meal experience? Weāre about to find out.
The 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts has officially begun, and it has a LOT to offer. There are plenty of food studios with tasty items, shows and artistic performances to watch, souvenirs to grab (of course), and even an art-inspired food stroll to complete. But donāt let it overwhelm you ā weāve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now weāre heading to one spot in particular ā the Gourmet LandscapesĀ ā to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Letās find out!
Menu
Gourmet LandscapesĀ is the home of elegant comfort food. Most of the menu items and drinks are returning. Thatās not necessarily a bad thing, though ā but are these items enough to draw you in for a visit? Letās dive into the food first and find out.
Now that weāve taken a look at the menu, letās dive into the food itself!
Eats
Weāll start with the new item at this food studio, the Verjus-roasted Beets, which cost $5.50 and are DDP snack eligible.Ā
This dish comes with goat cheese, petite lettuce, blackberry gastrique, and spiced pecans. It is gluten/wheat friendly, a plant-based item, and is part of the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine Item. The Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine is essentially a food challenge where if you buy 5 of the 7 participating items, you can get a FREE prize.
We thought the beets were a little briny and almost had a pickled taste. The gastrique added a very interesting flavor that made the whole dish taste crafted and balanced. The tiny mushrooms brought a great, rich flavor as well! This dish is definitely for more adventurous eaters who love earthy flavors.
Next up is the Roasted Bone MarrowĀ for $10.50. This is also DDP snack eligible, which is a pretty good deal for a $10 snack!
The Roasted Bone Marrow is completed with onion marmalade, pickled mushrooms, and petite lettuce. Didnāt have roasted bone marrow on your EPCOT Bingo list, did ya?! Weāve seen various versions of this dish here since 2022. In 2022, there was mache lettuce and bone marrow snow listed on the menu. But this is the same dish we experienced in 2023, so if you had it last year, you can expect a similar experience.
If you donāt know how to eat it, youāre supposed to spoon out the marrow and spread it over the bread thatās served with it. We thought this was super interesting and also definitely just for adventurous eaters! The marrow starts off salty and then has a very unexpected sweet flavor as an aftertaste. Our reporter described it as an āenigma,ā because that aftertaste was so surprising.
The final dish here is the Wild Mushroom Risotto with aged Parmesan, truffle shavings, and zinfandel reduction.Ā This one is $9.75 and also DDP snack eligible.
This was our favorite item at this booth! Itās plant-based, so that āparmesanā is really a coconut-based ācheese.ā The dish was salty, delicious, and earthy. Overall itās a little bit chewy since thereās no crunchy element, but we thought it was warm and delicious.
Drinks
Next, letās dive into those drinks! First, we have the Whole Hog Brewery Raspberry ChĆ©ret Double Radler. You can get a 6oz pour for $5.75Ā or 12oz for $9.75.
You can also find aĀ Schlumberger CuvĆ©e Klimt Brut on the menu for $9. Or you can opt for The Meeker Vineyard Winemakerās Handprint Merlot for $11.Ā
And finally, while here, you can get the Frozen Scotch Cocktail with Scotch and herbal tea garnished with a chocolate nail for $15.50.
In the past, weāve seen a similar cocktail, Frozen Rusty Nail Cocktail, which was made with bourbon, tea, and topped with a chocolate nail. So this is a familiar drink with a Scotch switched in for the bourbon. Though both Scotch and bourbon are members of the whiskey family, Scotch is made with malted barley, while bourbon is made from corn and tends to be a touch sweeter.
This is a very earthy drink (we bet youāve picked up on the āearthyā trend at this booth!). The drink is also VERY strong ā it tasted a bit like we were drinking straight Scotch with just a dash of tea. The chocolate nail was a fun addition, but itās just plain milk chocolate and doesnāt really change the drink.
Hereās a quick warning about this cocktail: Because itās frozen, if you donāt drink it quickly, the ice will melt and water it down.
OVERALL
Overall, Gourmet Landscapes is keeping things pretty similar in 2024 when compared to previous years. The beet dish has not been our favorite, but the bone marrow is at least very interesting. The Frozen Scotch Cocktail may not be for you if you prefer sweet and fruity drinks. But that wild mushroom risotto is DEFINITELY worth trying!
This booth is for adventurous eaters only!
Thatās it for this booth, but thereās a LOT more where that came from!
