REVIEW: There’s a NEW Treat at Wilderness Lodge in Disney World!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already 2024, but you know what they say. Time flies when you’re having fun!

How is it already 2024?!

We’re grateful to have been able to ring in the New Year at Disney World, and now we’re headed to continue the celebration with a special treat. (What? Did you really think we’d celebrate a holiday WITHOUT finding a sweet treat?) We’re headed over to Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. Here, you can grab an assortment of quick service food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oh, and dessert, which is what we’re grabbing today, of course! Let’s go!

Today, we’re trying out Roaring Fork’s Bear-y Happy New Year Mousse for $7.99. This is a berry-flavored bar made of strawberry mousse, champagne gel, vanilla cake, mirror glaze, and chocolate decor.

Bear-y Happy New Year Mousse

When we got the mousse, we were super impressed with the amount of detail that was put into the treat. It’s stunning! Just look at all those stars.

It’s so pretty 🤩

However, when we cut the treat open, we didn’t feel so keen on trying it anymore. The berry mousse was a bit too light in color and we couldn’t help but think that it looks like flesh. Or meatloaf? Well, there’s no backing out now.

A look inside

So… how does our first treat of 2024 TASTE? Well, the strawberry mousse is very light in flavor — it’s good! The mirror glaze acts as a sort of gel to hold the treat together for visual purposes, but doesn’t do much in terms of flavor.

The mousse is good! The rest is… okay.

What grabs our attention the most in this treat is the champagne gel. It resembles a layer of Jell-O and we couldn’t decide if we liked it or not, just because it has the most dominant texture without adding any flavor. The vanilla cake at the bottom was so moistened by the other layers that it was just goopy.

New Year’s Mousse

Overall, it’s a fairly enjoyable treat if you can get past the texture (and initial appearance). Besides texture, our only other complaint is that we wish dark or milk chocolate would have been used in lieu of the white chocolate. We found that it was an odd pairing with the champagne, but we understand that it might have been better for visual purposes. While we probably won’t get this treat again, you might enjoy it if you love mousses, champagne flavors, and don’t mind gelatinous textures. For the price, we didn’t find this one to be worth it, but hey — you might!
