Charter Communications customers with their Spectrum TV Select bundle now have access to the ad-supported Disney+ Basic at no additional cost.
Spectrum and Disney+
Earlier this year, Disney pulled all of their broadcasting channels from Spectrum due to a contract dispute with Charter Communications. The two companies reached a carriage deal in September that lets Charter bundle Disney+ with Spectrum TV Select.
Disney+ Basic is usually $7.99 per month and features ads. The Premium service with no ads is $13.99 per month. There are also Duo and Trio bundles including Hulu and ESPN+.
According to Next TV, Charter will be including ESPN+ for Spectrum TV Plus subscribers at no extra cost in the next few months.
“With the launch of the Disney Plus Basic offer, TV Select customers can now enjoy access to Disney’s popular streaming content as well as their high-quality linear TV channels, all included as part of one video package,” Tom Montemagno, executive VP of programming acquisition for Charter, said in a statement. “As the video industry continues to evolve, we are committed to including direct-to-consumer apps like Disney Plus with Spectrum services while providing a simplified TV viewing experience through platforms such as the Xumo Stream Box.”
Disney president of platform distribution Justin Connolly said, “The inclusion of Disney Plus alongside a curated lineup of our TV channels brings the best of both worlds from Disney’s unrivaled entertainment portfolio to Charter’s video customers. Our goal has always been to meet consumers where they are, and these collective offerings will maximize value for Spectrum TV Select customers while simultaneously broadening the audience of our advertiser supported streaming services.”
