The Magic Kingdom Rule That Could Ruin The Fireworks For You

Magic Kingdom is a wonderful park, but it can also be a very confusing park.

Magic Kingdom

There are TONS of different attraction to experience, so much that it’s hard to decide what to do in just one day. However, there’s one rule in Magic Kingdom that EVERYONE forgets (yes, that includes us). So let’s go over it so you’re not surprised during your next vacation!

When Magic Kingdom gets ready for their evening fireworks, there’s one section of the park you WON’T be able to get to if you’re not prepared before the show starts.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks

To protect guests from being in the “fall” zone where firework residue can potentially land, the area behind Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland is closed before fireworks begin, during fireworks, and for a short amount of time after the fireworks show ends.

Happily Ever After

So what does this mean? Well, if you’re in Fantasyland, you won’t be able to walk underneath the castle to get to the front of the park to watch the fireworks, or vice versa. This means you’ll have to take the long way around (the REALLY long way) to get around the castle. So be prepared to walk all the way to Tomorrowland or Liberty Square to get around to the front of the castle.

Happily Ever After

This REALLY catches people off guard, and means they don’t allow themselves enough time to get in their preferred place for the fireworks show. However, remember that you can watch the fireworks from behind Cinderella Castle! You won’t be able to see the projections on the castle or on Main Street U.S.A., but it’s a pretty unique view of the show.

Remember that this area will be closed off!
