We Want to Be Mad at This New EPCOT Snack…But We Really Can’t Be

We’ve officially made it halfway around EPCOT’s World Showcase, which can only mean one thing…Funnel Cakes!

Today, we’re trying a LOT of new and returning eats and drinks at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts.  At the American Adventure pavilion in World Showcase, the Funnel Cake Stand has decided to join in the celebration with a NEW funnel cake flavor. Let’s check it out!

The Funnel Cake Stand often has special flavors for EPCOT’s festivals, like the Cherry Blossom Funnel Cake from the 2022 Festival of the Arts or the Candied Bacon S’mores Funnel Cake at the 2021 Food & Wine Festival. This year, the stand is cooking up a very colorful interpretation for festival-goers.

The only festival offering on the menu at this stand is the Crazy Chocolate Funnel Cake Sandwich!

You can still get some normal offerings as well, like the regular Funnel Cake with Sugar. But we’re just here for those festival eats!

The Crazy Chocolate Funnel Cake Sandwich is a mini funnel cake sandwich with vanilla ice cream, rainbow whipped cream, strawberry sauce, powdered sugar, and sprinkles for $12. Here’s what Disney’s promo photo looked like…

…and here’s what we got. It’s not quite as impressive, but it’s still very colorful and photogenic!

This tastes very similar to Cocoa Crispies cereal, especially once it gets soggy as the ice cream melts. Still, it was actually pretty delicious! It all comes together as kind of a chocolate cereal-flavored ice cream sundae, and we didn’t mind that one bit. However, we’re not exactly sure that it’s worth $12.

So should you get a funnel cake?

OVERALL

We want to be mad at the funnel cake because it’s $12 and it’s not exactly large. But man…it was actually pretty good! We have a hard time recommending any festival food items that are that expensive, but there’s a caveat in 2024 — if you’re using the Dining Plan, this funnel cake is a snack credit, and a REALLY good deal since it’s so pricey. So go nuts if you’re using your credits!
