Let’s just say 2024 is a BIG year for Disney World. SO MUCH is going on, just in January alone!

Okay, so first, we’ll be kissing park pass reservations goodbye (well, most of us will, anyway). We’ll soon be park hopping WHENEVER we feel like it. Plus we’ll be able to get the Disney Dining Plan again. But that’s not the only thing that’s going to happen. Something else BIG is going down on January 12th and you’ll want to have your phone handy for it.
That’s because January 12th is the first day of the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts — but that’s not the BIGGEST thing happening that day. No, that’s the day that the new Figment Popcorn Bucket will be released out into the wild — and if this release is anything like the first time a Figment Popcorn Bucket was released, it’s going to be PANDEMONIUM. Plus just LOOK AT IT. It’s designed to look like the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT AND it comes with rainbow popcorn.

Okay, so maybe it won’t be QUITE as bad. Disney has learned its lesson after 2022, when the line to get a Figment popcorn bucket was SIX HOURS long! You won’t have to stand in an hours-long line to grab it this time — we think.. Instead, the popcorn bucket is going to be available a lot like some of Disney World’s most popular rides — there will be a virtual queue.

Although a virtual queue will make it a LITTLE easier to get the new popcorn bucket, it will probably sell out quickly, meaning you’ll need to be fast on your phone to grab it. We don’t have full details of how the virtual queue option will be put in place or what time you’ll be able to try and sign up, but we can guess that EVERYONE will be on their phone at that time.

So the good news is that you won’t have to stand in long lines for the popcorn bucket, but the bad news is that you will have to be staring at your phone and have some fast fingers to get a shot at buying the new one. Then you’ll have to keep staring at your phone to make sure you don’t miss the notification that it’s your time to go buy the popcorn bucket. (Pro tip: Bring a mobile charger along with you that day!)
